- Midland 101 Exam: For their Midland 101 Exam this week, students participated in a team exercise in orienteering with a bit of "scavenger hunt" thrown in. Each team needed to locate four faculty members: Derk Harwell '88, Kyle Taylor, Cory Cramer and Ben Munger '79. They had to provide the proper coordinates of the faculty location and then answer an exam question before moving on. Cory really got into it as he used camouflage and sticks to do such a good job of hiding, that jokes had to be told in order to hear him laughing in order to locate him.

Girls' Soccer: The girls beat Oak Grove on Saturday. Click here to see photos taken by Wilja Happe (parent of Lily Brand '12 and Thomas Brand '14). Boys' Soccer: In the absence of three injured starters, the boys' soccer team struggled for the second consecutive match on Saturday, losing a mixed jv/varsity match, 4-0, to an unusually strong Besant Hill squad. But helped by the return to the lineup of co-captain Marcus Schmidt '12, the Oaks rebounded on Wednesday with a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Laguna Blanca. Dan Goldstein '13, tied the match in the second half, scoring his first goal after receiving a pass from defender Bryce Bryant '15, who had made a long, bold run with the ball up the right wing. With just over five minutes to play, Brian Bell '13, got through the Owls' defense only to be held by the Laguna Blanca goalkeeper on his way to a sure goal, and Irvin Alvarez '12, converted the resulting penalty kick - his third of the year - to secure the victory. The Oaks enter break with a record of 3-2, 1-1 in the Condor League. Click here to see photos of the Laguna Blanca match. Basketball: Another busy week in basketball...
