- Travel Plans Needed ASAP: With Spring Break coming, please notify Jill Brady of your child's travel plans no later than Wednesday. Some time is needed to arrange shuttles. Please remember to consider the requirement that reservations may not be made departing Santa Barbara earlier than 8:00AM. LAX departures need to factor in departure by the Santa Barbara Airbus LAX shuttle at 8:30AM arriving at LAX at 11:15AM. Airline check-in time is added to this time. Thank you for sending travel information as soon as possible.
- Visiting Astronomer: On Tuesday, March 22nd, Chuck McPartlin, Outreach Coordinator for the Santa Barbara Astronomical Unit, spoke about the universe to about 15 students and a couple of faculty members during club night. With a wonderful Power Point presentation and a truly encyclopedic knowledge about the cosmos--including but not limited to chemistry, physics, astronomy, and geology--Chuck enlightened those present on black holes, time travel, the possibilities for extraterrestrial life, dwarf planets, interstellar communication, the density of the sun, the big bang, the fourth dimension, and string theory. He captivated the students with his vast knowledge of a wide array of subjects. While cloud cover did not permit his setting up of telescopes and star gazing, the students went away with many of their questions answered and with new ones to ponder.
