 | | Midland faculty members and students perform together |
On Monday, January 17, 2011, Midland faculty and students participated in several activities in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with themes of service and compassion. Live music by Owen Plant set the tone for the day. At times during the musical performance, faculty members Ben Munger '79 and Shawn McVicar joined in, as well as students Martin Huerta '11, Juan Mesones '13 and Ray Duncan '14. The whole community enjoyed readings by several students, a viewing and discussion of the film "Shelter" featuring Ken Williams (parent of Shane Williams '12), a "disparity meal" activity put on by the Common Ground Service Club followed by a discussion of the activity, flute by Derek Harwell '88, and then the day concluded with a dance performance. See more.

 | "Midland" Joins "Midland Stories" on the Web
|
 | | Peter Coonradt '64 as a student |
Two yars ago Peter Coonradt '64 finished his first film about Midland, and it got wide acclaim when it was distributed on DVD. A couple months ago we announced that Peter's sequel, "Midland Stories," can be seen online at http://www.midlandstories.com/. Now the first movie, titled simply "Midland," can also be seen via the Midland Stories website. "It's better to watch Midland first, then Midland Stories," Peter said from his home in Redlands. "Otherwise it's like taking Geometry 1B before Geometry 1A.The second movie stands on the shoulders of the first one." Please help spread the word about these two powerful films. You can read reviews and use the "submit feedback" link to post your own comments. Click here to see Peter's film, "Midland." |
