New Class Presidents elected by their classmates:
Freshman - Aarti Patil
Sophomore - Kirby Kersels
Junior - Callie Bryan
Senior - Eliad Becker
Junjie Zhao was elected as the junior at-large representative to
the Student-Faculty Council and will serve with the class presidents and
the school prefects. - Red Rock Excursion: On Tuesday, faculty members Donna Williams and Cory Cramer took Charlie Lehman '13, David Salehpour '14, Ruby Goldberg '11, Sarah Haynor '11, Rachel Featherstone '11, Anna Moiseyeva '13, Luke Carpenter '12 and Gabriella Rocco '14 to Red Rock near Lake Cachuma on the Santa Ynez River. They had a great time swimming, jumping off rocks and exploring the watering holes.

- Fire Crew Wilderness Trip: The Midland Fire Crew, comprised of sophomores Miles
Dakin, Kirby Kersels, Miguel Provencio, and Weiler Shafer along with
Ranch Manager and crew leader Ben Munger '79 and Outdoor Programs
Director Derek Harwell '88, traveled to the Ansel Adams Wilderness
(just South of Yosemite) for a five day wilderness trip focused on
trail work with the forest service.
- Exciting News in the Zoological World! In Spring 2008, Jeff Goddard
found a rare, undescribed, beautiful, conspicuous nudibranch sea slug at
Carpinteria Reef. The new species, known only from this one specimen
(whose external morphology and reproductive biology Jeff documented here
at Midland) was just described by Terry Gosliner as Flabellina goddardi in The Proceedings of the California Academy of Sciences. In the etymology for the species, Terry Gosliner states "Flabellina goddardi
is named for friend and colleague, Jeff Goddard who found the only
specimen of this distinctive species. Jeff is the consummate naturalist
with superb powers of observation."
- Midland 102 Scavenger Hunt: On Friday, students in Midland 102 participated in a Midland Scavenger Hunt in which clues led them around campus introducing them to faculty members and to various Midland discoveries.
