  • Midland Yearbooks: Thank you to those who helped support Midland's yearbook!  If you didn't get a chance to order a book for $39 you may do so by sending a check to Derek Svennungsen or charging the credit card already on file.  If you are interested in purchasing an advertisement for your your business or a personal profile or message - prices are $30 for a business card, $60 for 1/4 page, $100 for 1/2 page, and $150 for whole page. Please send all orders and other inquiries to Mariah Chen '11.

  • Dance at The Anacapa School: On Saturday evening, 16 Midland students went to a dance hosted by the Anacapa School, a day school in Santa Barbara.

  • Alumnus from 1930s: Jerry Griggs '39, who was here for one year in 1936, came back to campus for the first time on Sunday since he left 73 years ago.

  • Midland Marathoner: Martina Svennungsen finished the Inaugural Santa Barbara International Marathon with a time of 3:26. She was 9th place in her age group, 28th place for females, and 175th place overall out of 1686.  Jill Redl tooks 6 students down to man a drink station at mile 16. Congratulations, Martina!

  • Athletics:
Soccer: Varsity Girls lost to Dunn and Varsity Boys beat OVS, 4-1, on Saturday.
Basketball: Midland's Basketball team beat OVS, 48-36, on Saturday.
    See the Athletics schedule online.

  • Varsity Hikers: Kevin Jung '11 (organizer), Merlin Plumbley '12, Peter King '12, Miguel Provencio '13, Emmet Yeazell '13 and Derek Svennungsen  hiked up Grass Mountain this AM (leaving at 4:30), hoping to run into some snow.  A warm night meant no snow, but it was still worth it.  Peter summed up the hike at assembly thusly: "Varsity Hiking had a game against Grass Mountain this morning.  It was an uphill battle, but we came out on top."

  • Grape Vine Wreaths: Students made grape vine wreaths as Ben Munger '79 and Katie Isaacson pruned the Midland vines in the garden. Decorations for the wreaths included herbs and greens from the garden and property.

  • Reminder: Parents may pick up students after the Winter Banquet, approximately 8:00 PM tonight.  Return to campus is Sunday, January 3, for the 6:00 PM assembly.
Return to Midland in January:  If your child is returning to Midland by a public carrier and needs to be picked up in Santa Barbara at the end of break, please let Jill Brady know by December 30th.  There will not be anyone in the office after this date to monitor voice mail or email. The office is not open on the weekend when students return.  Thank you for planning ahead.

  • Have a wonderful and safe Holiday Break!!
