Please send all orders and other inquiries to Mariah Chen '11.

  • Library Advisory Board members took a field trip to Chaucer's book store in Santa Barbara for a book buying trip. They report, "We had a great time and are now busy cataloging, labeling, and covering the books so that students can check them out. Also, we're excited about our "Dottie Reads" series posted on the Library's homepage. Dottie is Nessa Ryan's '11 pug. Each week Dottie will recommend some of her favorite books. The entire series of photos will be posted on the 'We Recommend' page."

  • Secret Santas: On Sunday evening, Midland's school-wide "Secret Santa" event commenced where Midlandesque gifts are presented secretly to one another through the end of the term.

  • Now Presenting: Will Graham and Lise Goddard are in Chicago giving a presentation, "What Does a Regenerative Education Look Like?" at The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) annual conference.

  • Julius Caesar Monologues: On Wednesday and Thursday evening, sophomores memorized and performed Julius Caesar monologues and dialogues for World Studies class.  While most students chose the traditional time period of the Roman Empire, other renditions included a mid-1930s U.S. setting, a modern day "backstabbing" corporation, a role switch of an ancient Roman senator to a teenage girl in 2009, a Midland School classroom setting, and a puppet show.  Performances were creative and very entertaining.  Well done sophomores!

  • Yuchen's Dinner Party: On the evening before Thanksgiving, senior Yuchen Zhao prepared and served an incredible Chinese dinner for his 8 guests in Ireland House.

  • Freedom from Chemical Dependency (FCD): Chris Kelly from FCD Educational Services is at Midland Thursday-Saturday to meet with the community and educate everyone about the risks and realities of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use.

  • People of Color Conference: Jose Juan Ibarra '87 is attending the annual National Association of Boarding Schools (NAIS) People of Color Conference in Denver, CO.

Basketball: Midland's Basketball team played against Coastal Christian on Wednesday and lost, but had a lot of fun and fan support.
