Midland Minutes
tagline
  • Thanksgiving at Midland: Click here for details.

  • Project Healthy Neighbors: Next Monday-Wednesday, several Midland students and faculty members are volunteering for Project Healthy Neighbors in Santa Barbara, a mobile medical clinic that provides services to homeless and near-homeless individuals by offering a range of services in one place. Midlanders will be handing out shoes donated by Soles 4 Souls.

  • Oak Restoration Map: Students in Don Redl's Statistics class created a Google Map of Midland's Oak restoration progress. Lise Goddard leads the ongoing native oak restoration project.

  • Junior Fundraising: Over Thanksgiving the juniors will be fundraising for our trip to Mascota, Mexico.  As many of you may know, we spend two weeks in February living with families and attending the local school with the children of our host families.  It is an incredible educational and cultural experience and we are all very excited to go.  We will be selling coffee, sweatshirts, and other Midland novelties throughout the Thanksgiving weekend.  We will also have a silent auction with a variety of items donated by Midland families or made by Midland students and faculty.  Any contribution to our fundraising efforts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you - The Junior Class

  • Freshman Camping Trip: Last weekend, half of the freshmen students in Midland 102 went on a camping trip with Rob Hopkinson and Johnny Ninos. They stayed at Mushroom Camp, a site about five miles from Nira Trailhead, along the Manzana, and they hiked Hurricane Deck. Two videos cameras were taken along, and we will let you know when the video is ready!

  • Cards for Noah: Ashleigh Rosa hosted a card-making club where Midland students made cards for Noah Biorkman, a 5-year old who is in the last stages of a two and a half-year battle with Neuroblastoma Cancer. The family is celebrating Christmas next week and Noah's request is to get lots of Christmas cards.
