Malibu for a final class trip.
-
Brain Bowl: The annual class
competition took place last Friday, and the
seniors left all other classes in the dust as
they won by a landslide.

Seniors Frances King and Silviano Valdez will
be able to participate in Thinking Beyond
Borders
next year, thanks to a
generous gift from the Carmen M. Christensen
Trust.
This spring, 28 students and faculty competed
in the fourth annual stock market competition
organized by Don Redl. Each competitor
started with $1,000,000 in cash to invest in
stocks and options. Students learned how to
trade stocks short or long, how to conduct
limit and stop-loss orders, and how to trade
on the margin using an online simulator
through the Investopedia.com website. The
goal of the game is to develop an
understanding of investing principles and to
cultivate an awareness of how current events
impact the financial system.
The winners of the competition, with their
final portfolio values, are:
1st place: Libang Shi,
$2,572,931
2nd place: Shue Him Lau,
$2,387,869
3rd place: Aidan McMurray,
$2,340,320
All three broke the record established four
years ago by Adam Corsar when he finished
with a portfolio value of $2,057,261.
See where the seniors are headed next
year.
