MIDLAND MINUTES

  • To All Midland School Community Members:
With the Swine Flu pandemic spreading into the Southern California area, we would like to assure Midland families the school health department is fully aware of all recommendations from the Center for Disease Control, and the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department, and we are following these recommendations. The geographical isolation of Midland School is definitely beneficial in this situation, and trips off campus may be limited as more data about the flu becomes available. Currently, students and staff members who experience flu symptoms will be evaluated by Donna Williams, R.N. or Dr. Sandquist. Appropriate care and/or further evaluation will be provided.

  • Twelve Angry Jurors Performance Postponed: Due to rain, the scheduled performance of Twelve Angry Jurors has been re-scheduled for 8 PM, Thursday, May 7th. Reminder: The performance will last about 75 minutes. Audience members should dress warmly for the outdoor venue.

  • Last Saturday, for Alumni, Parents & Friends Weekend, the Equestrian Program put on their third annual Equestrian Drill Performance. This year, the routine was choreographed to music and contained numerous advanced drill moves. The twelve riders, led by senior Steve Herron and freshman Gillian Beery-Beesley, performed confidently and enthusiastically in front of approximately forty spectators, the biggest crowd yet. Equestrian Program Director Martina Svennungsen and Assistant Gillian Kinnear '04 are extremely proud of the riders and Midland's loyal herd. Thanks to all who came out to support the program.
