Bob Shafer '54 sent in a couple of
Midland stories about "Choice" and Midland
legacies. Read his stories.
Scott Richards '72 reports, "my wife
and I sold out of the U.S. and have been
traveling the world ever since, visiting
locals of both of our life long dreams now,
as we really never know how long we'll have
on this ever changing and shrinking world,
losing it's unique and interesting diversity
everyday. That place in the sun, that
'paradise' that we all dream of and what we
have been searching for, was found in
ourselves and what you do with the time at
the helm. I feel that Midland has played a
huge part in shaping my life by 'teaching me'
to learn. I am better equipped for the
challenges that we face being homeless and
country-less for the first times in our lives
and know that I can survive anything adhering
to my Alma-Mater's basic, timeless
philosophies. I plan on stopping in some time
in the next year during our American visit
coming up this summer. And yes, I too
remember Ben Rich's classes and
ducking a chalk eraser a few times. Best
Regards, Scott & Sally Richards - Thailand."
Daniel Prince (Beatty) '89 reports,
"my wife and I changed our
last name from Beatty to Prince. The Prince
name comes from my step-family. My uncle
William Prince was in BG Kresse's ('68) class.
My grandfather went to Cate and supported me
financially and emotionally to go to Midland.
We are overjoyed to have our legal name
aligned with our hearts and family."
The Class of 89's 20-year
Anniversary is
planned in Point Reyes, CA for Memorial Day
weekend this year. Daniel says, "We are
hoping for a big turnout of most of our
graduating
class."
Alexis Kidd '08 was selected by the
Bonner Foundation and Earlham College for a
Bonner
Scholarship. It is awarded
for previous commitment to service. Alexis
will be working 10 hours per week with
non-profits in her host community and two
summers for non-profits during her college
career.

Alumni, Parents & Friends Weekend |
|
|
|
Midland's annual Alumni, Parents & Friends
Weekend was the weekend of April 25-26, 2009.
The John Dreyfuss Distinguished Alumnus Award
was presented to Tom Mone '72 (in the photo
above). Tom, CEO of OneLegacy, the US's
largest organ recovery agency, is a true
example of the purpose of the John Dreyfuss
Distinguished Alumnus Award, which is awarded
to that person, "who, through distinguished
service to the School and his community, has
exemplified the ideals of Midland School."
Tom is a leading figure in helping to make
the miracle of organ transplant an almost
"everyday" medical procedure. His tireless
efforts have led to increases in both organ
donations and financial support for organ
transplant research.
Thanks to all who joined us!
