Historic Week for Midland Varsity Boys' Soccer!
    1) On Friday, 1/30, a 2-0 win at Thacher, courtesy of goals by John Lee '11 and Kevin Carney '09, both assisted by Joey Hermosillo '09. It was the first time a Midland team has beaten Thacher at the varsity level in any sport in more than 15 years. John Frost '86 reports that the boys' soccer team beat Thacher in 1985, so this victory may be the first over the Toads in 23 years.
    2) On Saturday, 1/31, again on the strength of goals from Lee and Carney, a 2-0 win over Santa Clara of Oxnard, a school of almost 500 students, the largest school that the team has ever beaten.
    3) On Wednesday, 2/4, a 0-0 tie against Laguna Blanca ran the squad's unbeaten string to 5 matches and gave it its fourth consecutive shutout, both streaks unmatched going back to at least 1995.
After starting the season 0-6-1 overall and 0-5-1 in the Condor League, the Oaks are now 3-6-3 overall and 1-5-3 in league.
The season concludes with matches at Dunn on Friday at 3:45 and at Mission in San Luis Obispo on Saturday at 3:00.
