Camping Trip: Midland faculty members
Laurie Munger, Rob Hopkinson, Hayley Anson,
and freshmen Savannah Cooley, Callie Bryan,
Luke Carpenter, Shane Williams, Kendrick
Holmes, and Peter King went up the Manzana
Creek to Mushroom Camp,
about a
mile below the Narrows Campground. Laurie
reports, "We had a hot walk in and didn't
find water until mile five. Our second day
we went up to Hurricane Deck, where we looked
around the sandstone amphitheatre of Toad
Rock. The group went on to the saddle
between the Manzana and Sisquoc River
drainages and found a cave painting of a
medicine man. We had great campfire games of
"Mafia" and ate a lot of marshmallows."
