Add a Touch of Whimsy to Your Indoors! February 2012 |
|
Greetings!
When I was about 8, the little neighbor girl across the street got a dollhouse for Christmas. Her father was a carpenter and it was beautiful. From then on, I was hooked.
I found my "dream house" on the front of the Camalier & Buckley Christmas catalog several years later and tucked it away in the hopes that someday I might have it. Well, my Dad, whom many of you have met at the Garden Center eventually retired and came to me saying, 'Where's that picture? I need a project." So I eventually got my dollhouse...when I was 32 years old!
It's a treasure for me and it made me appreciate all things miniature in a whole new perspective. Now the trend has moved to gardening and miniature gardens are sweeping the country. Colorful, fanciful, sometimes with fairy inhabitants, they will add whimsey and fun to your indoors before the outdoor season kicks in. |

Magical Miniatures
Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 10 am
Some call them fairy gardens, others just call them miniature gardens. They can be created in just about any type of planter or pot to use indoors, or on a larger scale in your yard. No matter where you choose to create yours, it will bring a smile to your face.
Miniature gardening has been around for over 100 years and was a popular ladies past time for many years, and it's never been more popular. Fall in love with these tiny treasures and take home a taste of spring for your home!
Join us for a hands-on workshop this Saturday and create the perfect garden for anyone who enjoys indoor gardening or gardening on a small scale. From Victorian gazebos, to Adirondack chairs, we have something to suit any style. Come play in the dirt with us! Yes, you'll get dirty, but you're going to love every minute of it!
This would be a great multi-generational class if you have a daughter or granddaughter that you are looking to share some quality one on one time with. We welcome gardeners of every generation!
There is a charge for whatever materials you use, so that you can control your cost. We have some wonderful miniature plants, ground covers, etc to help you build the perfect look.

What's Growing On at Four Seasons? Even though springtime seems far off, in the greenhouse and garden center it's already spring! Here's what's growing on: ~The first hanging baskets were planted this week so that they'll be ready for Mother's Day with an explosion of color. ~The first perennials were planted this week and they look great! ~Lettuce, tomatoes, spinach and sunflower greens continue to be popular. If you have tried to get these only to find we're sold out, try calling in the morning and asking us to hold them for you. We'll be happy to do that! ~Pansies, the first flowers of spring also were planted this week. ~Classes continue to help get you ready for spring planting! ~All of the seeds are now in. Shop early for best selection ~New gifts, organic controls and more have been arriving almost daily. Fran walked in this morning after being off for a few days, looked at the stack of boxes that was waiting for her and said she felt like she'd been "gobsmacked!" Hmmmm.... |
