Hello!
My business has been growing for about seven years now. Wow, that really has kind of flown by. Recently, there have many new factors and influences that have caused me to look at new directions and get a "business alignment." When you know that you need to make adjustments, you start by loosening up and allow yourself to be more flexible to allow change to happen; otherwise, you stay stuck -unable to move or grow.
The dynamics have changed, we need to realign how we are doing business or finally get an alignment, because an imbalanced business will not survive difficult times. Just like a car with poorly aligned tires, you ruin the tires or at least you wear them out a lot sooner! Also, align yourself with people who can help you. In the chiropractic world, their claim is that alignment is about making you feel better, so align yourself with people who can support you and make you stronger.
All my best,

Does Your Business Need an Alignment?
I was working with a client recently who was just absolutely stuck filing paperwork every week habitually, spending time with bank statements, sorting through tons of email, and just feeling like she wasn't getting anywhere. With the recent slide in the economy, she planned to take some quiet time to focus on making changes to her business processes and become more efficient - finally. Then she would be ready when the economy turns around, which we all know it will. She told me she was finally willing to go to any length to get organized.
We are all so stuck in doing things the "old way." I'm so thrilled when an individual says, "I'm ready to do it differently". Inside, I'm thinking, "Yeah, you're kicking and screaming all the way to a better life of being organized." Think of it this way: your well being could only be one or two organizing steps away!
For this client, the first step was to attack her paper files, which I converted to the iPEP system, which is a wiki based document management system. It's more advanced than the Paper Tiger software tool, because it now incorporates your electronic files. It's kind of like the small-business person's version of Sharepoint. We're just geting a little more sophisticated aligning business' to more innovative tools! |

Are You Being Flexible?
Have you ever been to a chiropractor? I've only gone a few times and I tightened up so much they spent half the appointment just trying to relax me so they could make an adjustment. (I prefer my Bikram Yoga, I can control my flexibility!)
If you are not flexible to change, you cannot align things enough for them to fall into place. You may break some bones (or lose some customers)!
Align forces with people who think and act like YOU DO. The bookkeeping for my client was overwhelming. Money has been tight over the last year and it was paralyzing her. By aligning with a bookkeeper and being flexible enough to trust that someone else would manage the books better and more efficiently, my client could be more productive thinking about marketing her business rather than worry about how to manage her cash flow. (I referred her to Christanne Wright, let me know if you want her information.)
As we are striving to realign balance nationally and even globally, I challenge you to observe how others are realigning their business practice and collaborating with others to team build and be more efficient. Be flexible enough to say that you may need some help, and that you are willing to "go to any length" to live a better, more productive life. |
