The World's Greatest White Wines
Crafted by One of her Greatest Winemakers

The Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet label

"Henri Boillot decided a few years ago that he wanted to dedicate himself to the production of fine wines. Since then he has gone from strength to strength, sparing no expense, obsessing over every detail, fashioning magnificent wines....Thanks to the superhuman efforts of Henri Boillot, Domaine Jean Boillot should now be counted among the finest producers in the Cote de Beaune for both reds and whites." -Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate Read what Allen Meadows says about Henri Boillot and his amazing wines. Below I have also included Burghound reviews of the individual wines.

"I've said this before but it bears repeating: in recent years, the quality of both sides of Boillot's operation have been nothing short of phenomenal and he has become, in my view, the best small négociant in Burgundy for white wines. And, as the scores and comments confirm, Boillot's '08s are extremely impressive and absolutely worth your attention.

"Henri Boillot continues to make stunning wines from his négociant operation and he has arguably become the finest pure négoce specializing in white burgundy today; Here is the list of available wines. Quantities are limited

2008 Bâtard-Montrachet Rated 95/2020+ $2,317 (6-pack)
Burghound.com's 61 "Don't Miss" 2008s
Very limited
"(two-thirds from Chassagne and the remainder from Puligny). A less expressive but more complex nose speaks of notably ripe but not exotic aromas of lightly spiced and toasted green, yellow and citrus fruit that complementsto perfection the reserved, intense, round and very powerful big-bodied flavors that display obvious concentration and muscle on the dry but attractively textured and detailed finish. This is a knock-out effort and worth a special effort to find and cellar as it's going to require at least a decade to reach its apogee." -Allen Meadows, Burghound

2008 Corton-Charlemagne Rated 96/2020+ $931 (6-pack)
Burghound.com's 61 "Don't Miss" 2008s
"(100% from Aloxe fruit). Hints of oak toast add nuance to the green apple, lime and classic dried white flower aromas that precede the well-muscled, firm and impressively broad-shouldered flavors that are clean, dry and ultra intense with real drive on the penetrating and intensely mineral-suffused finish that delivers stunning length. This beautifully chiseled effort does not deliver quite the same length as the Montrachet but it's perhaps even more complex. In sum, part of why I like this so much is its sense of completeness." -Allen Meadows, Burghound

2008 Puligny-Montrachet "Perrières" Rated 92/2015+ 6 bottles $625, 12 bottle case $1,199 ($99)
Burghound.com's 78 "Sweet Spot" 2008s
"Initially, this is restrained to the point of being almost mute and only aggressiveswirling coaxes aromas of green apple and lemon-lime to grudgingly emerge. The lively, detailed and intensely mineral-drivenmedium-bodied flavors possess a chiseled, driving and explosively long finish. This would not be a good candidate for earlyconsumption but should handsomely repay 6 to 8 years of cellar time." -Allen Meadows, Burghound

2008 Meursault "Genevrières" Rated 93/2014+ 6 bottles $625 12 bottle case $1,199 ($99)
Burghound.com's 78 "Sweet Spot" 2008s
"There is a vaguely exotic character to the superbly elegant nose of white flower, apricot anddelicately spiced pear that is in keeping with the cool, precise, intense and stony medium-bodied flavors brimming with both extract and a natural sweetness before finishing with an exceptionally pure and lengthy finale. A classic, and altogether gorgeous, example of a fine Genevrières." -Allen Meadows, Burghound

2008 Meursault "Charmes" Rated 92/2014+ 6 bottles $580, 12 bottle case $1,129 ($94)
Burghound.com's 78 "Sweet Spot" 2008s
"(from vines in Charmes-Dessus). As one would reasonably expect, this is much more elegant with an ultra pure nose of apricot, peach, lemon and toasted nuts that slides seamlessly into supple and very seductively textured medium-bodied flavors brimming with dry extract that really coats the mouth on the almost painfully intense finish. This is exceptionally well-balanced and will age though the extract is such that it will be enjoyable young." -Allen Meadows, Burghound

2008 Puligny-Montrachet Rated 90/2013+ 6 bottles $395, 12 bottle case $770 ($64)
Burghound.com's 75 Top Value 2008s
"(from 1 ha of evenly mixed vines in Houlières, Charmes and Enseignères). A very pretty and lightly perfumed nose of acacia, honeysuckle and lightly spiced pear aromas is followed by rich, full and delicious flavors thatmanage to retain a good sense of underlying detail and tension on the stylish and lingering finish. An excellent villages and worth considering." -Allen Meadows, Burghound

2008 St. Romain Rated 87/2012+ $502
"Mild reduction knocks down an otherwise complex nose that combines notes of wood, cool green fruit and lime hints that can also be found on the attractively stony, detailed and tension-filled middle weight flavors that culminate in an understated and rather fine finish. Lovely if not overly complex that would also be a good candidate for a house white." -Allen Meadows, Burghound

2008 Bourgogne Rated 86/2012+ $368 ($28)
Burghound.com's 75 Top Value 2008s
"(50% from Meursault vines and the rest from declassified St. Romain and Auxey-Duresses in equal proportions). An expressive nose speaks of dried floral notes and fresh citrus nuances that precede nicely rich and full flavorsfor a wine of this level, all wrapped in a racy and intense finish. This would make for a great house white." -Allen Meadows, Burghound
