2011 Woodland Owners Short Course Limited space is still available at each of the Woodland Owners Short Course (WOSC) offerings. The Central Region WOSC will be on August 20 in Nelson County, the West Region WOSC will be on August 27 in Butler County, and the East Region WOSC will be on September 24 in Bath County. Each WOSC features two programming tracks: one for experienced woodland owners and one for those just getting started managing their woodlands. Biomass Workshops Successfully Completed
The recent Biomass Workshops were well received by the more than 300 woodland owners, loggers, foresters, and forest industry individuals attending; more than 98% of those completing evaluations indicated their expectations were exceeded or met. The webinars will be on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. (Eastern Time) starting on October 4th with Tree Identification. Fall Photograph Workshop Ever wanted to learn how to photograph nature? Here is your chance. The Fall Photography workshop at the Pine Mountain Settlement School will be held October 7-9. Participants will receive hands on training at the peak of fall color on Pine Mountain and will have the opportunity to photograph sunsets over the Cumberland plateau, colorful reflections in sand lake, and the brilliance of huckleberries and blueberries on stone outcroppings. The workshop is limited to 15 participants. The instructor is Dr. Tom Barnes. Click here for registration information.

Kentucky Forest Leadership Program
The Kentucky Forest Leadership Program began over 50 years ago and has evolved during that time. The program is designed for high school students completing their sophomore and junior years. This week-long experience concentrates on forest management and related subjects. The program will be held June 11 -15, 2012. Registration material will be available late Decebmer 2011.
