September  2012

WHAT DID YOU DO THIS SUMMER?

Greetings!

Greetings!

So, what did you do this summer? This is probably the most common question we ask come September!
If you were to ask me, I would send you to my YouTube channel to see some of the projects I worked on (see summer production list below).
Not every video I do makes it to YouTube at the request of some clients, which is fine. I respect your requests for privacy. Some are placed with privacy settings so only those with the correct URL or web addresses see them. (Vimeo uses a password).
The variety of work this summer ranged from weddings, corporate videos, photo montages, memorial presentations, and family histories.

This coming fall I have booked a fundraiser, some green screen video blogs, and an insurance product video. I continue to shoot all the videos of events for Richmond Chamber of Commerce.

If you have any thing you like videoed this fall, please don't hesitate to call me!

Sincerely,

David Cooperstone

Vendor of the Month
canadian barter first exchange
First Canadian Barter Exchange is a group I've been a member of for the last year and a half. They've introduced me to some great new clients, and showed me how I can barter, or trade, my services with over 600 local barter members, along with thousands of others around the world.

I've been able to gain new customers that I wouldn't have met otherwise.  And I've been able to trade my services for all sorts of things. I've purchased printing, furniture, workshops, trade show space, and travel accommodations - all without spending cash!

Members are advertised in directories, newsletters and emails, as well as by word-of-mouth. There are also various networking events held throughout the year.

Whether you are offering products or services, business to business or business to consumer, barter can help you fill more of your billable hours, fill extra seats at your next seminar, fill unsold ad spots, or book empty rooms if you operate a hotel or resort. You can move excess inventory, as well as improve your bottom line by reducing your cash expenses.

Can your business benefit from barter?  Contact First Canadian Barter Exchange today at  604.759.3223 orinfo@barterfirst.com, or visit www.barterfirst.com <http://www.barterfirst.com>  <http://www.barterfirst.com>

QUESTION OF THE
MONTH

What Should I know about Shooting my own Video? (part 3)
Post-Production (Editing) Part 1 .(Preparing to edit the video)

In this final segment we will be putting together the final video.
First you have to review and record the original footage. Pen to paper or fingers to keyboard write down the minute and second of every shot you have recorded. (A shot is when you started to record to when you stopped.)
Make sure you describe the shot in detail, include any camera movement. You never know what shots or parts of the shot you might use. This log should now be turned into a edit decision list (EDL).
This EDL would place the shots from the log in the sequence you wish them to follow.
Notation would be made indicating if the sound is to be used or narration and or music would be utilized.
Any titles and or graphics are noted. Finally the transitions whether they be straight cuts, dissolves or some kind of effect would be indicated.
You now have created a blue print for the video you about to edit.
As you proceed to physically editing the material with your non-linear editing software on your computer you will be able to do adjustments.
Once you have laid down the material, only then can you actually decide if it all works together.
