From the Board of Directors
Greetings from your Board of Directors. Hopefully everyone is finding some ways to stay cool in these extremely hot Oklahoma temperatures. Our golf course continues to stay in great shape considering the temperatures we have been experiencing the last couple of weeks, as well as the drought conditions that exist in our lakes that supply our water for the course.
With these thoughts in mind, we must remind our members to take care of the course when driving around the greens and tee boxes. The grass is extremely vulnerable in these extremely hot temps. Please remember to keep your carts on the paths and not park or drive off the cart paths within 30 yards of the greens and tee boxes. Also, please remember to keep your carts on the paths on all par threes. If our membership will adhere to these rules, Jared can spend more time keeping our course in better playing condition rather than repairing the cart related damage.
Construction is progressing on schedule and the roof lines and windows in place are revealing the great new look to the clubhouse. Many thanks go out to our construction team for making this clubhouse project more beautiful than most of us thought it could ever be without totally rebuilding Both our renovation and our operating budget numbers are still remaining solid and our membership numbers continue to grow. However, to put the finishing touches on the clubhouse, we still need additional near-term funding from some of our membership who are willing to participate in the various ways we have proposed:
1. The double down club.
2. Naming rights to various areas of the clubhouse.
3. Naming plaques on the tables and chairs.
4. Naming plaques on the bar stools.
5. Tee markers.
Please contact Chuck or Dawn if you are interested in any of these fund raising projects. Thanks again to our membership for supporting the club as we progress through the renovation phase with our less than ideal conditions in the clubhouse. Hopefully these extreme weather conditions will subside and we'll get back to normal golf and pool activities.
See you at the club!

An Update from the Course Superintendent
This summer has been about as hot and dry as the summer of 2011 was. Since June 6th, we have received a total of 0.94" of rain, which is well below normal.
Temperatures have been running 10 to 15 degrees above our normal averages which are around 94. These circumstances have put a strain on our irrigation system in the past few weeks. Our transfer pump, which fills our irrigation lake on #15 recently "blew up" and had to be taken out to be repaired. During that time we were only able to water the greens, to conserve the water that we had in our lake. You might have noticed that the other areas of the golf course rapidly began to dry out and turn brown. Before the repair we were pumping about 350,000 gallons per night, while we were waiting on the pump to be repaired we had to cut that amount back to 50,000-75,000 gallons per night. At this time, the pump is back in and operating as usual. However, we will continue to see the effects of this recent problem for weeks. It will take several days to get the pond back to maximum capacity and even longer for some areas of the course to green up. During this time it would be extremely helpful if everyone in a cart is more aware of where they are driving. With the grass as dry as it is, carts and cart traffic will be more harmful to the grass. As always, stick to the cart paths as much as possible, avoid driving around tees, 30 yards from the greens, and try to avoid driving in the fescue areas in the rough, which are really suffering due to the lack of water. We have begun to rope off areas around the course that are under severe stress and will continue to do so.
Hopefully, we will see better weather in the next couple of weeks, which would help more than anything.
See you on the Course!

From your GM
As the month of August begins, the excitement of the new clubhouse continues. In August you can expect to see the building closed in, the outside will have its' stonework done as well as the patio work finished, and the inside will see some of the less glamorous work begin- fire sprinkler systems, wiring, heat and air conditioner ductwork, etc. There has been lots of interest from members about the detail work and all the finishing touches of the clubhouse. Elsewhere in this newsletter you will find a letter from Juergen Janzen addressing a fundraising campaign that was used with great success at Oakwood Country Club in Enid. Give it a thought and if it interests you, we would be glad to help you direct your money towards your favorite project.
There are also naming rights available for golf course as well as clubhouse features. We have several people and businesses in town that are in the final stages of picking this path of donation.
I know you all are constantly hit up for money- not only by us, but other good causes as well. I can tell you that since construction has begun, we have signed 20 new members. Many others are in the works and still others want to see the finished product. Several large businesses in town are looking at Business Memberships. Even though we are ahead of projections, the more members we can sign- well that assures that your dues will remain low. The best way to sign new members is having great facilities!

From the Pro
July continued to be a busy month despite the heat, although the mornings were busy- the afternoons often found the course deserted. Jared has done a wonderful job keeping the golf course in great condition despite the weather!
We had many low scores shot this month; 69's by Steve Flaming and Rathin Sarathy, Jim Walsh shot a 71 and Dick Fischer shot 74-his age. Congratulations to all!
The heat was well over 100 degrees but we concluded our Men's Club Championship this month and Rex Hughes is once again our champion. Dave Reynolds and Steve Carpenter were close behind giving chase. Our other Flight winners were John Blake, Cody Warner, and Bill Annis.
There's still lots of golf to come and the best weather of the year is still ahead of us.
