Ground Breaking February 22nd!

The official ground breaking for our renovation was February 22, 2012.  Stillwater Chamber of Commerce came out to help us celebrate the occassion.  Attending were Members from Chamber, Chamber Ambassadors, SCC Board of Directors, SCC Building Committee, SCC Construction Management Team and serveral other community leaders.

 From the Board of Directors

Hope everyone is enjoying the mild winter weather we've been experiencing and all our golfing members have been able to get in a few rounds.

The Clubhouse renovation is progressing on schedule and Clubhouse food and beverage service has been provided with minimum of interruptions. We are continuing to schedule our gourmet dinners, wine tastings, and our other social events so keep reading your email blasts to keep informed. Our members have continually been impressed with the job Chef Rick and his Staff have been doing with the smaller dining facilities. We think our food is the best that it has been in years and many of our members are finding this out and utilizing the club now more for dining. Just wait until we get into the new clubhouse mixed grill and experience that along with our wonderful menu. It promises to be something really special and something we can all be very proud of.

As far as renovation goes, the available areas are still the same, with the east banquet room utilized for dining, the sun room for the bar, north room for offices, kitchen is operational, and mens and womens bathrooms are functional. These areas should not change for the next few weeks as construction progresses in the other areas of the Clubhouse. We will try and keep you informed of any changes in Clubhouse occupancy in the monthly newsletter, but you can always check the website as Jodi keeps that information and other items updated continuously.

It is an exciting time at SCC and the word is getting out in Stillwater that changes are coming to the club. There has been a lot of interest in the community and membership packets are going out the door. It is a great time to join SCC and we have some membership specials going now through April, so if you have friends that are interested, they should contact Jodi our Marketing Director in the SCC office.

See you at the Club,

Your SCC Board of Directors

The excitement abounds! As the Clubhouse progresses, the golfing season nears, and kids start thinking about the pool; SCC has had more outside interest in what's going on than anyone can remember. Thanks to the members' help, we are passing out more membership applications and have had lots of phone calls with membership inquiries. We are poised for remarkable growth. We have already welcomed four or five new members recently and are anxious for the new interest to really start paying off.

Your member design team has come up with some great plans for our renovation, including covering part of the patio to enhance your outdoor dining. Follow our progress at www.thestillwatercountryclub.com

Great news! Most of you have enjoyed the remarkable service of our own Bob Clougherty. Bob graduates from OSU in May and we have convinced him to stay on as our Food and Beverage Director. I'm sure you share my excitement and look forward to the great service that we know will be provided under his tutelage.

Here's to a bright future!

 WGA News

 Judy O'Neil

We had twenty-four members attend our Welcome Back Coffee on February 7th. Welcome to our new members, Susan Dees and Stephanie Mowat. It was good to see everyone and look forward to the new season. Chuck Coatney spoke about the construction and the importance of the WGA. He suggested an evening league for both 9 and 18 holes for ladies that work and encouraged all of us to play more and participate in the upcoming events. If anyone is interested in the Tuesday evening league, please get in touch with Judy O'Neil or Chuck Coatney.

It is once again time to begin our playdays. Our first playday will be March 6th at 10:00am. Members should meet at the Clubhouse by 9:45am to check in, and there will be a shotgun start at 10:00am. Pairings and playday information will be in the Sunday Newspress each week. The monthly meeting will be on March 13th at 9:30am.  We will meet in the east room at the Clubhouse at that time.

Hoping that March will present us with pleasant spring days. See you on the course.

Our favorable weather continues and our golf has had few interruptions. Bob Phillips hasn't missed a beat. One week he had is career best round of 74 and the very next week he had his first hole-in-one. Not to be outdone, Jim Walsh also had his career best round, a 70. Congratulations to our players of the month!

The 2012 tournament schedule is out and posted on our website. Those that would like a paper copy can pick one up in the Pro Shop. Our 1st Earlybird is scheduled for March 17th. In conjunction with this we will have a free breakfast and a MGA meeting at 9:00, we'll try to begin play about 10:45.

New spring clothing is arriving in the Pro Shoppe as well as all the latest in 2012 golf equipment. As always, we would like to thank those that choose to support my Pro Shoppe. This assures our ability to keep a well-stocked shop for your club to be proud of.
