Pet Blessing
Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 2:15 p.m.
Parking Lot in front of the School and the Statue of Saint Francis (rain or shine)
Our Lady of Peace School and Parish will have our annual Blessing of Pets on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 2:15 p.m. The prayer service and blessing will take place in front of the school in front of the statue of Saint Francis (rain or shine). We ask students, who wish to have their pets (dogs, cats, birds, lizard, horses, etc.) blessed, ask their parents to bring their pets to the blessing. We ask that the parents who bring pets meet their children on the parking lot as they come out of the main entrance with their classes. If parents cannot attend, their children may bring a photograph or drawing of their pet to be blessed. Students whose parents are not able to attend should stay with their class's homeroom teacher. If, after the blessing, parents wish to take their children home with them they may do so, but must send a note to your child's homeroom teacher (for each child) to let them know. This is important as this will allow the homeroom teacher to make sure that your child is prepared to go home before they go to the parking lot. (Students may only leave early if their own parents or legal guardians take them and they have given a note to their homeroom teacher. Students will not be permitted to go home with another student's parent, unless this is a traditional daily routine, and this should be stated in the note from the child's parent. Thank you for your complete cooperation in this.) If going home with parents, students should take their book bags, etc. with them to the blessing. Do not place on the ground outside for obvious reasons. We ask that you do not park in front of the school as that is where people will be gathering. Please park on the parking lot west of the gym or east of the school. Thanks for your cooperation. Students not leaving with parents after the blessing will be dismissed at the regular time. |

The Fourth Annual Grandparents'/Grandfriends' Day was a great success. As part of the day, photos were taken. These will be sent home with the youngest child today. There is a copy for the grandparent/grandfriend and also for your family. We encourage you to do something special with the photo such as sending it with a thank you note for attending the day or frame it for Christmas.
If you had a grandparent or grandfriend who did not receive an invite this year, please forward their name and address to advancement@olpcrusaders.org with the name and grades of your children. We would like to add the information to the database now so it will be updated for next year. |

Coupon Book Reminder
I would like to thank everyone for a their participation in doing a fantastic job with this fundraiser of the coupon books. At this point, we have surpassed what we raised last year in total. I will give the financial tally once this sale has concluded. However, we currently have approximately 45 families that have not returned either their book or their sales. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, it is not too late to turn in either the book or your sales. If you buy one or many, send in the check made out to OLP or simply send in cash with your child's envelope, or place the payment in a mailing envelope with your child's name and grade so that they may receive credit. I will soon be calling individual familes to gently remind them to return this fundraiser. Unfortunately, if you do not return, we will be charged for the book.
Again, if anyone has any questions or hardship in finding the book, please call me at 835-5046 or 450-7239. Thank you for continued support in our endeavors. Peacefully, Mrs. Tina Vergotz.

OLP Middle School Youth Group
Attention all Middle School Youth Group Members
Well, didn't we all think that the trip to Nelson Ledges was the "bees knees"? I will try and bee-have with this Youth Group update. All 59 members who attended our first outing had a bee-utiful time on Saturday on the trip to Nelson Ledges ... until ... well ... the bees decided to join in the fun. Was it a scene from the Hunger Games or Winnie the Pooh? The bees aren't talking, that's for sure. Anyway, everyone is doing great, and the trip to Nelson Ledges will continue in April when the bees are still vacationing in Beeville, TX.
I promise this is our last date change for the Living Rosary spiritual event. Due to a scheduling conflict, the new (and last) date is now Monday, October 22, at 7:00pm. Please plan on attending this beautiful event with your family, honoring October - the Month of the Rosary.
As always, should you have any questions, ideas for activities, wish to contribute to our Adult Planning Committee or volunteer at any of our events, please do not hesitate to contact Kathy Roach at kathyroach66@gmail.com or 490-4240.
Have a blessed week! |
