Letter from the Chairman,
This is my favorite time of year for many reasons, fall brings football, beautiful weather to enjoy time on the golf course and most importantly our annual," Swingin' and Singin' for Cures"!
Every year friends and family from all over the country take time out of their busy schedules to join us to learn about the latest developments in stem cell research and therapy. It's a reunion I cherish with all of my heart.
The things I treasure the most as we push for more funding for this research and continue our education series are the incredible people we meet on daily basis- literally each and every day. These new friends volunteer countless hours to further our cause and their tremendous skills and dedication make TSCR a much stronger organization.
Each year we recognize those who travel the furthest distance to join us. This year we welcome a new guest, Lorraine Stiehl, Executive Director of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine. Lorraine is showing her support for our efforts by coming all the way from San Francisco! We also welcome one of our most loyal friends, Longhorn Legend Steve McMichael, recently selected to the College Football Hall of Fame; the 17th Longhorn of all time. Steve will make the flight down from Chicago to attend all of the events!
This year's event we've added a symposium with some of the leading doctors in the world. We are honored to have the principal study investigators conducting the first stem cell trials in heart attack patients, stroke victims, and researchers who will undoubtedly bring the first therapies to patients in the very near future.
Every one of us has lost a loved one long before we were ready for their departure. Our goal is to assist these incredible researchers with the funding they need. We want to have therapies to turn to when our loved ones are diagnosed with ALS, Alzheimer's or Parkinson's and many more diseases afflicting millions every day. There is hope. Hope that there may be a cure around the corner or at least a chance for better quality of life to "live with the disease, not die from it".
So, come join us for a wonderful cause and a bunch of fun...I'll promise you won't regret it!
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or Keri Kimler at keri@txstemcell.org.
