Beat your Crave MONSTER!
What is the hardest thing about a diet transition? For me, it was the cravings. Oh those night time cravings! All day long I was love LOVING my raw meals. Yummy smoothies, decadent salads and even a delicious lasagna for dinner at the table while my cooked family had their dinner was no problem at all. But then it hit me. After dinner was cleaned up, kiddos were put to bed and we settled down to chat in the living room or watch a movie together, I desparately wanted something to snack on. Popcorn, potato chips, candy, anything to munch on. Ugh! I would go to the kitchen and grab anything no matter how unhealthy it might be.
Then one night - EUREKA! I remembered one of my favorites cravings from pregnancies past. I absolutely adored those Icee things from Burger King. Basically liquid sugar! I would get a large one and take it home and put it in the freezer. By the next day, it was basically a huge popsicle that I could eat with a spoon. I went to the store and bought the cheapest sugariest juice I could find, poured it in a big cup and the next night when the crave monster hit - I grabbed the big cup and a spoon and went to work. By the time the cup was empty, I was full, the movie I was watching was over and I was ready to snuggle in my warm bed for the night. Whoohooo! I won that battle!
Now, the big question became - How can I make this healthy? I tried fresh juice and it separated and got stringy in the freezer. Ewww! I tried "healthy" juices from the store and they had so much water that they were rock hard and not scoopable. Fail.
Then, Pure Market launched the summer ice! Peach, lemon and strawberry sorbets made from fresh fruit and coconut water with a bit of agave to sweeten. Oh my gosh! It was perfect. The coconut water didn't freeze too hard and a pint was the perfect amount to kill that night time crave MONSTER. Whoohooo!
Give it shot. Whenever you're crave monster hits, try a frozen juice, your own fresh juice or better yet a Pure Market Express sorbet. We all have moments when we struggle with healthy choices and wonder if the struggle is really going to make a difference in the end but with a pinch of creativity and a dash teamwork, a dollop of grace and whole lotta love and support we can all find ways to banish our personal crave monsters!
