Are you a master of your life? Have you achieved a level of mastery
of your own life such that every day you experience enjoyment, fulfillment, and evolution?
I don't mean that every day of your life is easy, fun, and full of
starlight and sunshine...
I mean that every day you choose to transform your challenges into opportunities and then you meet those opportunities fully: physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. As a result, not only do you experience your life more fully and freely, but you are willingly
engaged in an on-going process of learning, growth, and evolution.
This is what mastery looks like.
Some believe mastery is only the purview of people like Jesus, Mohammed, the Buddha, or the Dalai Lama. Nonsense! We all
possess the ability to master our lives.
Some people believe in a few months - or perhaps over a weekend -
they can become a master. If that were true, wouldn't most all of us
be masters?
Mastery of your life - of life itself - is about your conscious evolution
as a human being. That is, mastery is about choosing to be awake
and aware of who you are being...with your self, with others, and
with the world...every day.
It is as much about humility, as it is about courage.
It is as much about grace, as it is about intelligence.
It is as much about letting go, as it is about tenaciousness.
It is as much about maturity, as it is about wisdom.
It is as much about surrender, as it is about power.
Perhaps more than anything else, mastery is about choosing to be
fully accountable and responsible for your conscious - and your unconscious - choices, behaviors, and actions. This is where people
often get stuck. This is where the world gets stuck.
We'll talk more about that in the second part of this article. For now though, how can you embark upon a path to become master of
your life?
To begin with...you choose it. You say to your Self, your God, your
guide, the universe...whomever or whatever supports you...
"I choose to evolve."
And then you choose it...again and again and again. You choose it on mundane days; you choose it on extraordinary days. You choose it on challenging days; you choose it on joyful days. You say to the universe every day...
"Show me, teach me, tell me; I want to learn."
