Facebook Company or Business Page:  Now What

Facebook Company
So, you have a new Facebook company or business site.  Congrats!

Consumers purchase brands and products they like or follow on Facebook, a popular social networking site, 51% of the time these days.  Facebook users login every day at 41%.  Both of these percentages are increasing monthly.  In other words, if you don't have a company presence on Facebook you are likely loosing opportunities to connect with current customers and potential new customers.

As exciting as having a company, business or orgazinational site is, now what?   By using Facebook, you can communicate with your customers, know what they want, and use them to help promote your business. This is done when people add themselves as a fan, write on your Wall, upload photos, and interact with other fans.

Here are useful tips that we use for our popular site.  We encourage you to try these out:
  • Keep your fans engaged by giving them useful and relevant info. Share quality content with them to incite comments and send updates at least once a week. Content should be a mix of your own content and what is called in the industry, "OPC" - other people's content.  It's a good thing to share other industry blogs, links, resources, etc. That way you'll be seen as a business that cares enough to share a good depth and breadth of your topic and not just your own opinion.  Always provide the source for the information.
  • Link your facebook page to your newsletter and to your website - Remember, it's about getting your customers and members to connect and interact with you through social media  The more users interact with your page, the more publicity you get that helps increase awareness about your products and services.
  • Add your unique logo or a picture that represents your business as your profile picture.  Seems easy enough, but lots of facebook sites don't take the time to upload a photo that is representative of their product or service.

Commercial One
For Video and TV viewers

Elevate Films LogoPerini & Associates announces Commercial 1, a new series of video spots.  "The purpose of these spots is to showcase the power of video in engaging in conversation," said Michael Perini, owner.

According to recent research of people who surf the internet, 83% of the time video is the medium most searched.  "When individuals are looking to how to do something, or how to support something, or buy something seeing a video often is the reason for making a decision," Perini said.

"There is an art in matching visuals, music and drama to create excitement and draw viewers into taking action," Perini said.

pclips is already a popular section on the website and company Facebook page.  "Adding a series of interesting commercials that can be viewed on Youtube and on television was the right step in leading by example  for current clients and potential ones," Perini said.

Elevate Films was chosen to mark all videos produced by Perini & Associates and reflects the branding campaign in Woodland Park, Colorado, heaquarters of the company.

"We would like to hear your comments about this commercial.  And, any ideas you might have for others," Perini said.

Cellphones get emergency alerts

ePerini Readview.

Occasionally, I will recommend a  news article, book, blog post or a short video clip to view. This "eperini Readview" references excerpts from a USA Today article about emergency alerts on cellphones- mbp

by Mike Snider, USA TODAY
Cellphones get emergency alerts

Consumers will get emergency alerts for hurricanes, tornadoes and other disasters on their cellphones as part of a new alert network to be announced Tuesday by the Federal Communications Commission.

The Personal Localized Alerting Network (PLAN) will allow emergency officials to send geographically targeted text messages to cellphones in areas where danger threatens. "The traditional alerts on radio and TV are still important, and they will continue, but more and more, mobile devices are becoming essential. You have them with you," says FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski. "In the event of a major disaster, government authorities can get lifesaving information to you quickly."

...Four cellular providers - AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon -have collaborated to voluntarily initiate the service prior to an April 2012 deadline for PLAN enaction throughout the nation. Officials hope to include the entire metropolitan area of the two cities...

...The FCC's website will have a list of carriers participating in the network, but consumers will need to ask their wireless provider if their current phone has the required chip that can get a software upgrade to activate the services. Carriers eventually will be required to tell consumers at retail whether phones are PLAN-enabled.

Consumers are automatically signed up for alerts, but they can opt out of alerts relating to imminent threats to life and safety and Amber Alerts. However, they cannot opt out of presidential alerts. "Think about the South a couple of weeks ago," Genachowski says. You could alert "a particular local community that the tornado's path has changed: 'It's coming to your community. Evacuate.' Or, 'The tornado is much stronger than previously anticipated. Take action.' It's very important."

Who are the people in your neighborhood? People who turn to the Census Bureau's latest data release in an effort to answer Sesame Street's musical query may, in some cases, be puzzled by what they find. The detailed race, ethnicity and population counts make it easy to look up data for any block in America. But those numbers may not be completely accurate-and deliberately so.  Read more

Graying audience is returning to movies.  Hollywood and older Americans have never had much use for each other. The 50-plus crowd doesn't go to opening weekends or buy popcorn; a youth-obsessed Hollywood has happily ignored them. But in the last few months...   Read more

iPhone 4SiPhone4S

So why?

One of the major selling points for the new phone is Siri, a voice-activated "personal assistant." The built-in artificial-intelligence app can answer questions, read or set calendar items, read texts and e-mails aloud and perform other tasks. She uses Wikipedia, search engine Wolfram Alpha and other sources to find answers to user questions. And, according to media reports, she apparently has a sense of humor.

The rest of the major updates are on the inside, which may not have made much of a splash but, according to Apple, will enhance the user's experience.

The phone contains an A5 processor (the same one in the iPad 2), which Apple says will render data twice as fast as the iPhone 4 and graphics up to seven times faster.

The phone  features an 8-megapixel camera, up from the 5-mp camera in the current model, HD video and a stabilization feature the company says will make videos less shaky.

The phone sells for $199 for 16GB of storage, $299 for 32GB and $399 for 64GB, marking the first time an iPhone has had that much memory.
