VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Disability Awareness Fair Friday, October 21st Please help us make this event a success! We are in dire need of volunteers to help our 4th-6th graders from Dickinson and Explorer move through stations to build awareness and compassion for experiences that differently-abled people go through every day (such as visual, hearing, sensory, and mobility). In addition, volunteers are needed to collect students at their appointed time and escort them to/from class. Join us for the entire day, morning shift, afternoon shift, or any time you are able to give. It will be a rewarding experience! Please contact Vicki Boardman (vboardman@dickinsonptsa.org) to volunteer. |

New Newsletter Announcement
On Thursday, the Legislative and Policy PTSA team, Andrea Stoppani and Tanya Rusak, will be launching a new newsletter called Dickinson Community Advocacy Connections. This newsletter will arrive in your e-mail similar to Messenger. You will have the ability to unsubscribe to this new newsletter if you are not interested. This is a separate newsletter from Messenger.
Our hope for this new newsletter is to connect the student and parent community of Emily Dickinson and Explorer with important facts and information about legislation that are happening in the district and state. We will also have a fun and informative section called, Did you know! This will be a section about facts that maybe you have always been curious about and have never had the time to research. For example, the first issue will be about class size. We are also planning on doing topics such as RIFF (Reduction in Teachers), Learning Center Changes, STEM school, how the Department of Transportation makes it bus routes, Land use issues, and statistics about our school. We hope you will enjoy this new newsletter! If you have any questions or ideas for issues, please contact, Tanya Rusak at advocacy@dickinsonptsa.org or trusak@dickinsonptsa.org. |

Donations to our food drive will be delivered to organizations that help these families. Here are "Kid-Friendly" items that are needed most: Peanut Butter/Jelly (in plastic jars, not glass) Crackers (Ritz, Saltines, Graham, etc) Pasta Mac-N-Cheese Instant Oatmeal Carnation Instant Breakfast packets Pancake Mix/Syrup Granola bars/protein bars Applesauce Microwave popcorn Individually packaged snack crackers (goldfish, PB sandwich, etc. anything
sized for a lunch box) Fruit snacks/Fruit leather Canned fruit/veggies/refried beans Canned soup (chicken noodle) This food drive is also a great way to get students involved in community service. Ask your child to pick the item(s) they would most like to eat; have your Girl Scout/Boy Scout troop collect items; students could earn money and shop for items to donate. A donation box will be outside the school office until October 21st. Donations can be sent with your student or dropped off by you during the school day. If you have any questions, please contact Shauna Yusko (syusko@dickinsonptsa.org or pantrypacks@gmail.com). Thank you for helping us help those in our community who need it most. |
