Getting the Food Depot Going
CHES has a goal to raise $5,000+ by July 31, 2012 to seed a group of female organic rice, beans and corn farmers to start up a food depot in Limbe, Haiti. These women plan to pool their produce and sell in bulk to organizations. For a year, these women have diligently worked with us to put together and email their business plan, implement and email requested revisions and pictures, participate in phone interviews. We at CHES are confident that they are integrous and hard-working women worth supporting. By helping this enterprise get its start, 3 people will be employed full-time with fair pay and at least 12 female farmers will have the opportunity to receive greater returns on their crops. This will also promote Haitian grown products and hopefully inspire more people to farm and care for Haiti's land. Visit our website to see more on this project.
Our belief is that the key to the elimination of poverty in Haiti is through job creation. Helping people earn their living is more sustainable than a one or few time charitable donation. We need you to help us reach our goal. You can help in the following ways:
- Make a Donation - mail, phone or visit our website
- Spread the word - schedule an info session with a CHES rep and share with others
- Help us sell - Email or call us to see how you can help raise funds with Wester Desamour's album, Mary Kay products and beautiful scarves
- Vote for the women below and help CHES win $5,000:
Laura, Marcia, Onyi, and Pam agreed to participate in the Mary Kay makeover contest for a chance to win themselves a $2,500 shopping spree and a nonprofit of their choice $5,000. I'm pleased to say that they pledged to CHES. By voting up to 5 times daily until Friday, June 15, you can help CHES get the food depot going!
