 Welcome, Elaine Poggi!
We are delighted to also report that Elaine Poggi,
President of Photo/ Art in Hospitals, Inc., located in Florence, Italy, has joined our esteemed and growing Advisory Board. I had the pleasure of meeting Elaine several years ago, and was excited by her organization and dedication. Elaine's photography brings beauty and art into the hospital setting, creating a vastly improved healing environment for patients and staff alike.
The Foundation for Photo/Art in Hospitals is a non-profit publicly supported organization dedicated to placing colorful, soothing photographs of nature in hospitals around the world- to give comfort and hope to patients, their families, visitors, and caregivers. She states, "Our vision is to create a shift in the way people view hospitals, from cold and sterile to warm and welcoming. We wish to change hospitals by humanizing their environments, a concept that is slowly gaining influence in many countries." Welcome, Elaine!

We are frequently asked about recommended reading material and do list many on our www.simontoncenter website. We feel these books have stood the test of time and remain of great benefit. One I would like to point out this spring is Judith Orloff's bestseller : Guide to Intuitive Healing. Dr. Judith Orloff, a UCLA psychiatrist and pioneer, bridges mainstream medicine with intuition, energy medicine, and spirituality and invites you on a remarkable journey where you can learn to tap into your intuitive voice to achieve enhanced health, and healing.
In her Guide to Intuitive Healing you will discover the five practical steps to awaken your intuition that Dr. Orloff uses in her own life and teaches patients. You'll learn to: - Develop a positive belief system
- Listen to your body and gut feelings
- Quiet your mind to access inner guidance
- Sense and read subtle energy-and how to stop absorbing the stress of others
- Remember and interpret your dreams
She states that by practicing these steps, it may help you recognize early warning signs and prevent illness. You'll discover skills to uncover vital information from meditation and unique intuitive techniques to make sense of confusing signals. The insights you'll gain will lend reason, compassion, and meaning to events such as illness, loss, or despair. With Dr. Orloff's instructions, you can recapture a sense of vision that brings vibrancy and clarity into all that you do. Those of you fortunate enough to have attended our drumming circles will remember Rick Allen and Lauren Monroe of the Raven Drum Foundation. Their remarkable work through the power of the drum has been a healing experience for our SCC participants, as well as the many veterans they serve. Rick is now engaged in a new and exciting project which has just recently been unveiled - transforming music, emotion and movement into art. Take a look! http://www.rickallenart.com/ |

The Simonton Cancer Center is engaged in a matching donation drive with the support of one of our committed participants, Barbara Eastman. She is challenging SCC to raise $5,000 and will match this with a $5,000 contribution of her own. This is a wonderful opportunity for SCC to raise a much needed $10,000 for operations and scholarships. Please Give Now to the Simonton Cancer Center: http://bit.ly/uKV1O9 ,
