Chicago Street Theatre (CST) is offering an opportunity for actors in the community to brush up on their skills and challenge their abilities. Group 7even was approached by the team of Anita Campbell and David Langton to include creative work in their book, Visual Marketing: 99 Proven Ways for Small Businesses to Market with Images and Design. The Indiana Association of Homes & Services for the Aging (IAHSA) presented Pines Village Retirement Communities with two Excellence Awards, celebrating dedicated individuals and organizations who have improved the quality of life for older Hoosiers, at the annual state conference held in Indianapolis. Pines Village received the "Excellence in Service" Award recognizing the organization for programs and services that are models of innovation and excellence that contribute significantly to the quality of life of the residents and the quality of work life of the employees. The "Excellence in Volunteering" Award was presented to Pines Village volunteer Vern Sanford, in honor of his extraordinary commitment to preserving dignity, well-being, and independence of Valparaiso residents living with low vision and other disabilities. The Porter County Community Foundation will commemorate its 15th Anniversary with a special celebration fundraiser to benefit the Porter County Community Foundation Scholarship Fund. The Annual Harvest Festival hosted by Valparaiso Community Festivals and Events (VCFE) brings over 3,000 visitors to downtown Valparaiso each October.
