SCHOOLS
Where EXCELLENCE is the Goal

Dear Friends of Homes of Hope

This summer, with your continuing help, and with each parish visit of our Homes of Hope speakers - who tell our story and ask for support - we come that much closer to our goal of building a new orphanage for the street children of Secunderabad, India.

Children on the Floor

Right now, these 80 precious girls sleep huddled together in tight rows on a concrete floor.  Hopefully, in a year, if we are successful in raising the rest of the funds, they will be sleeping on a real bed for the first time in their lives.  A wall is going up around the property, floor plans are being finalized, and we hope (and pray) construction can soon begin.  Check out www.100stepstohome.com for our progress.

Waves of HOPE

We have a terrific new video called Waves of Hope posted on the web.  It tells the story of a group of Wilmington, NC surfers, who traveled 11,000 miles to India when they heard that 23 of our girls at Home of Hope had been "left behind" during summer vacation.   Many of our girls have a relative - somewhere - so they can go to them for vacation.  These girls had no one.  Watch the video and go on a surfing safari with our girls and see what love and fiberglass boards can do.

HOPECORPS Volunteers

These summer months have seen many HOPECORPS Volunteers in India.  We've started a new initiative: a seminar in leadership and management for junior sisters, conducted by Dr. Laurie Paarlberg of the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.  Other volunteers are teaching and serving in our orphanages and schools.  Here is Nash Jenkins' blog of his visit.  Please start at the beginning and follow him through his time in India.  A 16-year old high school senior, Nash went over with his mother, Patti Jenkins.  An insightful young man.

HOMES OF HOPE Fundraisers

Some of you have offered to have Homes of Hope fund-raisers in your city.  These can be fun events where your gathered friends can talk to our girls in India via Skype and raise money for a needed project.  Each fund-raiser has a specific project, so your friends can see what they are accomplishing and feel connected in a real way to our work in India.

Tracy and I will be traveling to India in November...we can hardly wait.  Many thanks to you all,
