Charlotte says, "this is an easy way to create a simple and appealing human form on a mandrel using soft glass"

How sweet is this! I found this tutorial on Wetcanvas by Charlotte Abel.  The bead pictured is made by Charlotte.

MURRINI TIPS - Slicing you cane
Natalie Monkovitch
Beadmonki Lampwork   (check out Nat's murrini fusing in her latest blog post)
Use your glass nippers (the disc ones are fine, but tighten your discs so they don't spin using an allen key)
Picture cane should be cut thinner for insertion into the glass to maintain the integrity of the picture, but the simple murrini can be sliced a bit thicker so they can pull into the centre when heated after application

WHICH PURPLE?

Purples

You'll find an informative post on the Chestnut Ridge Design blog about soft glass Purples. It's well worth checking out.

Chestnut Ridge Designs said... " Purples are the second-most frustrating color to find in the glassy world. At first, you buy all the "mainstream" brands of purple only to end up with pounds and pounds of glass this is too grey, too red, too blue or just plain ugly..."

Philofox1 on YouTube posted this simple but worthwhile Pinwheel Pendant tutorial.

There is also a 2nd video worth watching here.  Not sure what he's making but take a look, the technique is interesting!

IMPRINTING ON GLASS
Lampwork Etc Thread
Imprinting Glass

Bobby from White Hot Glass Works posted a tutorial on Lampworketc about imprinting on glass.

She does this with Brass Shim Stamps that she makes. What a great way to add interest to a design, or make your own signature stamp.

BEADS TO SUPPORT KENYA AID

Kenya Aid
LAST WEEK TO COMMIT TO SUPPORTING!

One of the Charities we support is
Kenya Aid.  They are having a major  fund raising dinner in November to raise much needed funds so they can continue their amazing work in Shikunga, Kenya.

Kenya Aid has made a huge difference to this community by providing medical services, a new hospital and a variety of health programs and education.  Their SHARE program is the flagship of their women's health projects which is making it possible for young women to stay in school and complete their education. Read about their other projects here
.
They would be very appreciative of any Lampwork/Flamework pieces for one of their fund raising events, a Silent Auction, at the dinner.  It's a great chance to not only give to a worthy cause but to also raise your profile.  Your cards will be put alongside your donation for people to take.   From my personal experience of donating in the past it was definitely worthwhile.

If anyone is interested in donating to this worthy organisation, please send me an email and I will let you know the details.

Thanks for your time and have a great week!
Warm Regards,

Kerry
