Gregg County Project LifeSaver
 
Coordinated by the Gregg County Sheriff's Office and the Longview Pilot Club, Project LifeSaver assists elderly individuals at risk of becoming lost.  Participants wear a personalized wrist band with radio tracking technology.  For more information, call (903)236-8400.
Fire Prevention Course For Seniors
 
The Longview Fire Department will offer a two-hour course for senior residents on topics such as fire prevention, fall prevention, the file of life program, and the ambulance subscription program.  The course will be offered from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday each week by request.  The course is free, but pre-registration is required.  To pre-register, or for more information please call 903-237-1119.

EAST TEXAS MISSION OF MERCY

 

 

PURPOSE: To provide FREE dental treatment and eye examinations for East Texas low income families and individuals who cannot afford care.

 

SCREENING DATE: Friday 24 February 2012 beginning at 730 AM for 600 potential patients. Registration will be first come, first served. Screenings are necessary Friday to determine if the work needed can be done on Saturday, the treatment day.

 

LOCATION: Bethesda Health Clinic, 409 West Ferguson, for pain, infection, and necessary extractions. Fillings and other services will be provided as available at the treatment sites.

 

HOW TO QUALIFY: 1) Families with income below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and unable to afford care will be eligible. Annual income examples: Family of 1 is $21780, family of 2 is $29420, family of 4 is $44700........2) Prospective patients may be identified by local agencies, health departments, county indigent offices, or treatment facilities. BUT all will have the personal responsibility to appear for the Mission of Mercy screening and their scheduled appointment the next day.

 

TRANSPORTATION: Patients are responsible for their own transportation for screening on Friday and treatment on Saturday.

 

PARKING: Across the street from the Bethesda Health Clinic as signed. Tyler, TX 75702.

 

TREATMENT DATE: Saturday 25 February 2012 at the time and locations provided during the screenings. All persons who receive treatment must be screened Friday.

 

SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED: Dental examinations, extractions and oral surgery, dental fillings, eye exams and vision care. For Dental, priority services will be provided

 

 

 

 


Good Shepherd Medical Center's "A Fair Of The Heart"

Longview Transit Extends Route Hours Of Operation
 
Longview Transit has extended the hours for the Fixed Route Transit System.  Effective immediately, the system will now operate Monday-Friday from 6:15 a.m. - 7:15 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7:15 a.m. - 7:15 p.m.  Please stop by the East Texas Aging & Disability Resource Center to pick up a new route schedule or discounted pass application, or call Longview Transit at 903-753-2287 for more information.
