Medicaid Recipients

 

Don't forget to choose your managed care plan and provider before February 10, 2012.  Please call 1-800-964-2777 should you have any questions.  Join STAR program staff on January 14 at 9:00 a.m. at Crosspointe Fellowship Church, 1640 FM 1252  Kilgore, TX for assistance with help choosing a plan, and answering any questions that you may have.  Be sure to bring your Texas Benefits Medicaid Card along with your STAR welcome packet.

Centers For Medicare & Medicaid Services 

 

Medicaid.gov is a new website from the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).  It presents extensive information on Medicaid and CHIP programs designed to help people and providers be better informed.  As the result of efforts at CMS to revitalize the information about these programs available from the Federal government, this site focuses on items stakeholders said they care the most about including state-specific information and search capabilities.  Click here to reach the website.

Lacetta Walker of the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) speaks to the first A.I.M. group meeting in December on the subject of employment.    A.I.M. stands for Awareness, Inspiration and Motivation - and is a new group to help persons with mental or physical disabilities lead lives of greater independence.  The meetings are open to anyone interested in learning more about local resources and are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Arc of Gregg County Downtown Coffee Shop located at 107 East Tyler Street in Longview from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm.  Attendees are invited to bring a sack lunch and join us for coffee and great conversation.  Please join us on January 17 for the next meeting to hear Paula Smith with Maximus discuss the new Medicaid STAR program changes.
 

 North East Texas Homeless Consortium

 

The North East Texas Homeless Consortium will be conducting our annual "Count", where all people in East Texas who are homeless are counted.  We need your help.  We are collecting hats, gloves, scarves and winter wear to pass out during this time.  Please donate items to the following shelters before the last week in January 2012.

National Alliance on Mental Illness to offer free classes
 
 
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)  Family-to-Family Education Program is a 12 week course for families and friends of adults living with Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression, Anxiety Disorders, and Borderline Personality Disorder.  The 12 week class is offered free of charge and is taught by trained NAMI family members who have relatives with Mental Illness.  The Family-to-Family classes will be held from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday January 17.  For more information or to register, please call 903-553-1245.
