The Department of Health and Human Services updated its website aimed at educating the public about Long-term care (LTC) through providing information and resources to help people plan for and meet their LTC needs.  The National Clearinghouse for Long-Term Care Information has sections devoted to understanding, planning for, and paying for LTC.  It also features tools such as a Planning Quiz and Cost Calculator.  Please click here for more information.

ATTENTION NURSING HOME SOCIAL WORKERS

 

East Texas Aging & Disability Resource Center has the Money Follows The Person grant to assist Medicare, private pay, and private insurance residents who have expressed to the nursing home social worker that they would like to speak to someone about their resources in order to relocate back to their home community.  For more information, please call Debbie Tidwell at 903-295-5922.

Lunch & Learn

 

 

East Texas Center for Independent Living (ETCIL) is sponsoring a weekly Lunch & Learn Session to learn Basic Sign Language. These sessions are free to employers, service agencies and medical organizations and the public. These sessions are designed to assist employers, services agencies, and medical professionals and staff to learn basic ASL sign language to allow for basic communication with those who they may come in contact with that are deaf. This training could help organizations to be more deaf friendly to the deaf community.

 

The Lunch & Learn Session will be held each Friday from 12:00pm - 1:00pm, beginning September30. The sessions will cover the manual alphabet, numbers, colors, many basic signs that can be used when communicating to the Deaf.

 

Come join in on the fun as we learn sign language. Bring your lunch (light lunch) and set your hands into motion.
