McKeever's First Ride Chastain Park June 19
McKeever's First Ride was inspired and organized by Deenie McKeever in honor of her father, Dan McKeever. He was a pioneer in the prosthetic and orthotic industry. This event introduced amputees to the healing power of the horse. The mission is to showcase the powerful physical and emotional benefits of working with horses. Just spending time with horses; whether grooming, walking, doing ground exercises or riding; results in a sense of calmness and well- being. Along with the health benefits of being outdoors is the engagement in physical activity. The event was directed toward individuals in the orthotic and prosthetic community. This includes amputees of any age, wounded warriors and anyone faced with physical challenges or spinal cord injuries. McKeever's First Ride is designed to promote personal achievement, physical fitness and social interaction. Ed Dabney was honored to be invited as a clinician and an emcee for this important event. Beginner Cow Work Clinic Roping and Ranch Horsemanship June 25 - 27 in Gay, GA
English and Western riders alike had a great time at our Cow Working clinic. These clinics are not only lots of fun but are very beneficial to horse and rider. You can develop a better seat, a wider variety of skills and lighter responses from your horse. This clinic is even for riders who never plan on working cattle. Giving your horse a job to do focusing on the cattle whether sorting, cutting or roping, will greatly enhance the relationship and communication with your horse. This will result in better riding in any discipline. |
Girls Leadership Academy Chattanooga, GA
Ed is honored to work with the students and faculty of the Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy. The school's Equine Program at Mustang Leadership Partners is part of orientation for students at the new, all-girl state charter school. For most of the young women, the equine orientation program is their first exposure to horses or to a working farm. The students are able to experience the horses in a safe, controlled environment. They take part in grooming, riding lessons and rider fitness exercises.
The girls learn the history of the wild American mustang, gain an appreciation of the breed's capabilities and learn of the horse's place in our ecosystem. The program incorporates art, nutrition, life science, history and journaling.
Ultimately, with Mustang Leadership Partners, the students benefit from the opportunity to explore, communicate and learn while expressing their reactions to new experiences.
Students interact with Mustang Leadership Partners throughout the school year.
