Commercial Energy Purchasing Co-Op:
The Howard County Chamber of Commerce developed an energy purchasing cooperative program in 2006to help Chamber memberspurchase electricity in a deregulated market. The contracts provide long-term savings and budget stability.  Members who signed contracts for service starting in 2006 are currently paying 16% less than if they had remained with BGE on the Standard Offer Service rate.  The Department of Energy estimates that electricity prices will go up 14% per year for the next five years. Chamber Co-op members are not impacted by the increases during the terms of their contractsChamber members with commercial utility accounts are eligible to participate in the Commercial Energy Co-Op.

NEW RESIDENTIAL CO-OP APPLICATION

This program provides residential customers with a unique way to purchase either Residential Electricity Supply or Residential Natural Gas Supply services. Residential customers who have selected licensed suppliers have reduced their cost by 6 to 10 percent on an annual basis. Employees of Chamber member organizations can join the Residential Energy Purchasing Cooperative to reduce the cost of the electricity or natural gas provided to their homes. Deadline: April 23rd.
