Celebrating Life & Tradition - Senior Living in Southern California

February 2010                                                                                                    E-news is produced by the Development Department
Greetings from Heritage Pointe!

As we begin our 20th year of service to our seniors and the Jewish Community, I am reminded
daily of your generosity and compassion. You afford us the opportunity to provide an excellent
quality of life and care with dignity, without regard to someone's ability to pay. You share of yourselves in many ways, and now I am asking you to "share the bread."

Please consider taking a "challah," a "portion" of your good fortune, and sharing it monthly if you

are able. This is an opportunity to offer seniors-in-need a safe, caring haven to live in dignity with their peers; and for you to participate one piece, one loaf, one dozen at a time.

With appreciation,

Ellen Weiss
Director of Development
Share the Bread
Did you know that Heritage Pointe serves 1400 Challahs a year?  That's a lot of bread!  And it
takes a lot of "bread" to keep our Resident Assistance Fund fully fed.

Please join us as we "share the bread" with our residents.  You can participate monthly, or
as often as you choose.

Challah for the Home:    $18/month
Bagels for Bubbe:           $36/month
Pies for Papa:                   $72/month

Ruth Feuerstein Residence - 2 Year Anniversary

In February 2008, Heritage Pointe opened the doors to the Ruth Feuerstein Residence. This residence, often called our "Memory Care Wing," houses 16 seniors in private bedroom suites. The intimate setting offers personal attention, a private garden, community dining and recreation. The attention to comfort and detail, including the memory boxes for each resident, make the Ruth Feuerstein Residence truly a home.

Thank you to our generous donors whose vision and support provide a loving home for our seniors with memory loss.                                                                     Memory Boxes

Having a Senior Moment?
Wondering where you left your car keys? Put the mail? If the coffee pot is turned off before you left the house?  This happens to all of us, just more often as we age. The seniors at Heritage Pointe
now have the Dakim Brain Fitness System to stimulate mental alertness, visual acuity and
manual dexterity.

The Dakim Brain Fitness System is a computer console that assists
one senior at a time. Each person has a password (and how often do we forget those?) logging into a personalized program that increases in difficulty once previous challenges are met.

Newly introduced in January, we now have 20 residents who

participate. Come see for yourself that having a senior moment can be
a good thing! It can be an "ah ha" rather than an "oh no!"
