     NEW TO BRIDGETHINK?

PlaceHolder_2PlaceHolder_2BridgeThink.org is a new media resource connecting filmmakers, artists and business across creative communities. Services include hosting global Q&A's, providing forums to post resources, maintaining a Film/Arts Bank for reference to creators and much more! At the root of our thinking is the crazy idea that when more people are connected, the more they accomplish. In other words, if BridgeThink has helped a filmmaker, artist or business-owner find common ground, we're doing our job.

Where do we start? Since many of us are from the South Coast of Massachusetts and work in LA, these two places are our first points to bridge. That said, we're VERY interested in what's happening in YOUR community, wherever you may be! So if you have something shaking in your hometown, let us know. All it takes is two people to connect for an idea to ignite. We invite you to become a Bridge-thinker.

     WEBSITE COMING!

Website_2PlaceHolderAfter the "Building Bridges" film festival in New Bedford, Massachusetts, we took the summer to start developing the BridgeThink website which will be the cornerstone for future activities. There, you'll be able to post info on what's happening in your creative community, find out about our professional internship program and discover useful bridge-thinking tools for artists and filmmakers.

In the meantime, we've set up a temporary BridgeThink Forum. The forum is open to everyone, so if you have a project you want to announce or suggestion on how the forthcoming website can benefit you, drop us a note at www.bridgethink.org/forum

Put your ideas out there... who knows what you'll get back when you do?

RAB STUDIOS SHOOTS NEW MUSIC VIDEO IN SOUTH COAST - AND MORE!
PlaceHolder
RAB_1The folks at Acushnet, MA's own Rab Studios have been on fire this summer! Not only have they completed production on THREE music videos with a fourth in development for October, but they have established the Nu Actor's Collective, a company designed to help non-union actors find work in the film industry.  They have also just launched a digital download store, with a compilation album on the way.  AND... they've maintained a weekly newsletter on top of all that!  We think you should keep an eye on these guys as they're definitely going places!  To find out more about this strong team of filmmakers in the South Coast of Massachusetts and to sign up for their newsletter, visit www.rabstudios.com

Casting directors and non-union actors are also encouraged to check out the Nu Actor's Collective at www.nuactorscollective.com

"BUILDING BRIDGES" SCREENING IN LOS ANGELES

PlaceHolderPlaceHolderEPFCPlaceHolderThe Echo Park Film Center in Los Angeles has offered to host a screening of select films from the "Building Bridges" festival in New Bedford, MA last April.  We're still discussing the event's date and format.  But one thing is for sure, we want to make it BridgeThink's first ever bicoastal filmmaker dialogue and what better partners than the EPFC?

The Echo Park Film Center is a non-profit media arts org in the Echo Park neighborhood of LA with a community microcinema, equipment and service department, a green-energy mobile film school, many educational programs and an international touring festival of local established and emerging filmmakers.  They're a great partner to host this event with us!  Please check them out at www.echoparkfilmcenter.org  And stay tuned as we nail down specifics of this bi-coastal collaborative event.

NEW FILM PREPPING IN MASSACHUSETTS' SOUTH COAST!
PlaceHolder
BUSTED_BALLS_2The next short film from MA / LA based filmmaker, Tommy Whalen is in preproduction bi-coastally between Los Angeles, CA and New Bedford, MA!  "Busted Balls," a Christmas Comedy written by Whalen and directed by Colorado native, Arielle Guadagni is set for filming in the South Coast this November and is produced by their company Silent Dinner Productions. Tommy and Arielle were in Massachusetts prepping last month and we hear they had a phenomenal audition session at New Bedford's Your Theater where they picked up all 5 lead cast members. Casting talks are ongoing to include legendary politician, Buddy Cianci, in a cameo role. Paula Wright is casting and Digital Renaissance's Scott Cunha is Director of Photography. Interested in finding out more on "Busted Balls" and how you can get involved? Visit www.silentdinnerproductions.com or contact Tommy at tommywhalen@gmail.com

     AHA! NEW BEDFORD

Placeholder_0AHA14Whether you're in Massachusetts' South Coast, Los Angeles or in between, you'll want to know about AHA! Short for Art, History and Architecture, AHA! is New Bedford, Massachusetts' FREE monthly cultural night. Every second Thursday 2,000-3,000 visitors from Martha's Vineyard to Boston converge on downtown New Bedford to enjoy a festive night of regional energy including open art studios, live music, local cuisine, poetry, wine tasting... you name it!

With over 60 business and cultural partners, AHA! exemplifies how a creative economy keeps business growing even in hard economic times. According to the UMass Dartmouth Center for Policy Analysis, AHA! pumps $500,000 annually into New Bedford's economy. Along with like-minded New Bedford initiatives, AHA! makes it possible for BridgeThink to promote film projects in the South Coast repeatedly. And as the Massachusetts film industry grows, AHA! guarantees more filmmakers will notice the South Coast too. Info on October's event at www.ahanewbedford.org
