Greetings! We're still 'crunching numbers', but it appears KGOU exceeded our fundraising goals for the fiscal year that just ended, raising about $663,000. We give a great big "thank you" to all the members and underwriters who keep KGOU going year after year!
Thanks for subscribing to the KGOU e-Newsletter. Send feedback to the editor at membership@kgou.org.
All the best,

StoryCorps Scheduled to Stop in OKC This Fall
You hear StoryCorps conversations each Friday on Morning Edition -- one of the StoryCorps mobile recording booths is scheduled to pay a visit to Oklahoma City in October. We're not ready yet to start scheduling recording times -- we'll have more on that later.  As we're planning, KGOU is reaching out to local organizations to help spread the word, such as social service organizations that work with the elderly, youth, the homeless, or others; religious communities; labor unions or other occupation-related groups; literacy or mentoring groups;
groups that advocate for minorities; cultural groups, and so on. We'll be holding an informational meeting August 17 so that StoryCorps' facilitators can explain more about it. If you can suggest an organization, call or e-mail Development Director Jolly Brown at (405) 325-1601 for more details.

Morning Edition Travels the Congo River
 Her voice alone inspires images of Africa, and next week, NPR's Ofeibea Quist-Arcton takes us along for a journey down the Congo River. Beginning at the source of the Congo, Lake Tanganyika, and the source of Belgian colonialism, explorers David Livingston and Henry Morton Stanley, her five-part series winds through fishing villages and shipping ports, and through legacy and culture, until reaching the present-day and the capital city of Kinshasa. Tune in the week of August 2 on Morning Edition.

In Memorium: Daniel Schorr
 Daniel Schorr, a longtime senior news analyst for NPR and a veteran Washington journalist who broke major stories during the Cold War and Watergate, died July 23 at the age of 93. His NPR colleagues remembered him in a tribute told mostly through his own memories. Hear the program, see a photo slideshow, and read more about a life well lived, certainly, but also well reported.
