A Photographer's Intimate View of South Africa
The Picture ShowFor a view of South Africa that goes beyond its World Cup soccer stadiums, NPR's Picture Show blog features renowned photographer Zwelethu Mthethwa. He photographs the environment, social issues, and people of his native country with an intimate sensibility that strives to get away from the "Afro-pessimism" that has previously marked that country's artistic output. See a photo slideshow and hear his philosophical approach to his work, at NPR.org.
