The National Needle Arts Fall Show
The annual event in Columbus, Ohio to preview and buy what's new for fall!
ArtYarns | Haiku | Shibui | Tracie |
What can I say but it was very exciting. As it was my first time there I didn't know what to expect. When I walked into the Columbus Convention Center I was in awe. As a fiber lover and knitting addict I was in sensory overload. The yarns were beautiful, lots of knitted samples to see, and wonderful new patterns. I had a hard time deciding what to buy. I listened to what you have asked me for over this first year of our shop and I hope you'll be as excited as I am.
First, there's Imperial Stock Ranch. Wonderful wool from a historic ranch in Oregon. You'll love the jacket pattern I picked that can be knitted up in their Tracie, a beautiful sport weight 2-ply. Perfect for cool Florida days and nights. It can't come soon enough. It was 95 degrees today!
Next is a yarn I have always loved. Alchemy Yarns Haiku, a beautiful mohair, in solids and variegated. If you're not familiar with the process of Shibori, you're going to love it. It uses corks, marbles, and other various shapes to create texture in your piece. I have also ordered their Juniper sock yarn.
Then we have Shibui Knits. Their yarns are wonderful and their pattern support even better. One trend I definitely noticed at market is that sock yarn was everywhere and not only for socks. We'll be knitting everything from baby, kids, shawls, scarves, and other garments as well as socks out of sock yarn.
The other big trend is funky and chunky! Lots of grey, and lots of, get ready, novelty yarns! Of course I ordered them for you. I also have ArtYarn Beaded Mohair and Sequins and some with glitter for all of you who want a little glamour!
I've ordered wonderful new knitting bags, great patterns and a few more surprises. The first of the orders will start to come in July. I will make sure I tell you about them as they arrive. I could go on and on, but instead I will let you see what I saw. They wouldn't let us have cameras on the show floor but Ravelry did a great job in sending photos. They are still available and you can see them here, HelloTnna.
