A story about immigration, re-discovering your roots, and, above all, the power of music
View the documentary Black Over WhiteSaturday evening, Mar. 5, at 7:45 p.m.in the sanctuary at Tikvat Israel. The movie focuses on the Israeli pop/world music band the Idan Raichel Project on its 2006 concert tour to Ethiopia, as seen through the eyes of two of the band's members of Ethiopian descent.
After the movie, enjoy an Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony and other light refreshments.
The evening will end with a discussion with three articulate young Ethiopian Israelis who have come to the United States through the Israel at Heart program to talk about their lives and the challenges they face in their communities.
Cost: $10 for adults, free for middle school, high school and college students.
