Purim Seudah (Festive Meal) & "Shtick"
Sunday, March 20 at 4:30 pm
|

This year Purim lands on a Sunday, which provides us with a great opportunity to observe the mitzvah of an afternoon Purim Seudah on March 20 at 4:30 pm. We will share a meal of Persian delicacies (just like in the Megillah), sing Purim songs and enjoy fun, lighthearted entertainment and "shtick" by talented members of our community.
The cost is $18 for adults and $8 for children under 18. Call or e-mail the office for reservations (301-762-7338; tikvatoffice@gmail.com).
We are still looking for a few more good acts that are fun and/or funny and short: jugglers, tap dancers, storytellers, comedians (clean only, since there will be children present) or something that we haven't envisioned that you would like to share. We would expect the acts only to be at the most 5 minutes since we already have an action-packed agenda. If you have talent to share and are interested in becoming part of this first ever event -- please reply directly to Lynn & Bill Spector at lcspector@comcast.net, or call us at 301-340-7260.

Monday's Forecast: A Dry Day at TI
| The leaky pipe in the hill outside our building will finally be repaired this coming Monday, Feb. 21, beginning around 7 am. Because of the nature of the repair, the water to the building will have to be cut off for several hours. The ECC and HDI are closed for the Presidents Day holiday, and there are no other activities scheduled for the day except for daily services at 9:00 am (later start due to the holiday) and 7:30 pm. If you must come to the building on Monday, please plan accordingly for "drought conditions" inside the building. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we make this unavoidable repair. |

Mishloah Manot Sale
Now Through March 6
|

It's a Purim tradition to greet each other with a gift of food and goodies, and, once again, every TI family will receive a beautiful Mishloach Manot bag this Purim. A card will be enclosed listing the names of those sponsoring the bags. To have your name appear, and/or to order additional bags to distribute to family, neighbors, co-workers, etc., please see the ordering information in the January 16 letter you received. If you are a Tikvat Israel member and did not receive this letter, please contact the Synagogue office at 301-762-7338.
There are two ways to order, paper or on line. Paper forms are available on the TI Website, on the table outside the sanctuary, or in the synagogue office. Online orders must be placed through www.TikvatIsrael.HappyPurim.com. Proceeds will go to benefit the synagogue.

Tikvat Israel Blood Drive: Sunday, Apr. 17
| | |
Mark your calendars for the next Tikvat Israel blood drive. Note: we will be using a different scheduling system for this blood drive. You can go to this link to schedule your time.
The link will be available until a few days prior to the blood drive. However, if you have a preferred time, the earlier you register online, the better chance you have of securing the time you desire. If you would rather call the Red Cross to schedule a time, you can call at 1-800-GIVE LIFE approximately three weeks before the blood drive and request a time slot. Make sure that you request our date and location (here at the synagogue).
We (TI volunteers) will not be calling individuals at home to schedule a time slot. So, please don't wait for that phone call. Walk-ins will still be considered, but a scheduled time slot will always have priority. Questions? Contact Robbi Cohen at peezer200@yahoo.com |
