Photo Exhibit of Ethiopian Israeli Community: March 4-5 at TI

California artist Irene Fertik will display her photos of Ethiopian Israelis as part of a special weekend program, "From Tesfa to Tikva: A Lens on Ethiopian Israelis," to be held March 4-5 at Tikvat Israel.

Irene is an American photojournalist who has been documenting the Ethiopian Israeli community for the past 20 years. She's compiling her photographs into a book she plans to call "From Tesfa to Tikva: From Hope to Hope." "Tesfa" means "hope" in Amharic, the language the Ethiopian Israelis spoke in the old country; "tikva" means "hope" in Hebrew, their new language.
