Upcoming Adult Programs

Today, Friday, Nov. 26
WeedWarriorEnemyˇ    1:00-3:00 pm - Weed Warrior Program in Rock Creek Park, behind Tikvat Israel. Help save our local forest habitat from non-native invasive plants. The number of spots for volunteers is limited; first come, first served.  Montgomery County will lend some tools but probably not enough. Participants are welcome to bring their own tools. They will need sturdy gloves (leather or suede), hand pruners, and loppers. A few hand saws or larger saws could be useful too, although most of the vines are small enough in diameter to cut with hand pruners or with loppers. NO POWER TOOLS ARE ALLOWED!!! Clothes: Sturdy shoes/boots, long pants and long sleeves, hats if desired. It helps to bring water and a snack too because this can be tiring work! Read more about the program here.

Monday, Dec. 6

Dreidelˇ    2:00 pm - Dreidel party for the Jewish residents at the Aspenwood Senior Living Community. Sponsored by the Social Action Committee.  If you would like to play dreidel with the seniors and enjoy latkes and Chanukah cookies, please contact Roma Sohn at romarvin@comcast.net or call 301-598-3894.

ScoopNight2010
USYer Marty Lempert serves up a tasty treat for a good cause at Tuesday's Scoop Nite.

Youth Director Lynn Berk reported that the event was a big success. "The ice cream store was packed with people stopping by to support our kids, to buy ice cream cakes (even ice cream turkeys) for Thanksgiving and to just hang out with USY friends. We do not have the exact figure on how much we took in yet, but with the big crowd and our dollar for dollar match, Tikun Olam, the USY International charity, will do well."
