A Mesmerizing Evening With
The Tree of Life Shtender and Its Creator

Noah GreenbergMore than 100 congregants and friends from the community attended the Tree of Life Shtender presentation at our synagogue this past Wednesday evening. They were mesmerized by an extraordinary work of art and by its creator, Noah Greenberg, pictured here with some of the ritual objects cleverly concealed within this prayer and study lectern.

Noah will be returning to our community in November on a different project. Watch B'kesher and your TI Bulletin for details.

Extend Holiday Greetings to the TI Community in the September Bulletin

ShofarFor the first time in many years we will be publishing High Holiday greetings in the September Tikvat Israel Bulletin from members and friends of the congregation. This is a wonderful way to extend your best wishes for the coming year to the entire community and to be "green" by saving on paper and envelopes. A contribution of $18 is requested for each greeting.

The deadline for submitting greetings to appear in the September Bulletin is Tuesday, August 10. A supplemental list will appear in the October issue for any additional greetings that are received after August 10 (but before September 10).

To order your greeting, please filll out and return to the synagogue office the form that was included in your High Holiday mailing, along with your check made out to Tikvat Israel Congregation.

Aides Needed for Youth High Holiday Services

We are looking for post bar/bat mitzvah students through high school age to serve as aides for the Youth High Holiday services.

Aides are needed for both days of Rosh Hashanah, for the babysitting group on Kol Nidre and for Yom Kippur. You must like young children and be able to help with getting the children in the various rooms, checking to see that they are registered for the groups, passing out books, helping maintain discipline, distributing snacks and supervising playground time. Each group will have an adult leader and two aides at all times.

If you are interested in serving as a High Holiday aide, please contact Lynn Berk at 301-762-7338.
