For all of you who came out to the Sandi Pointe Coastal Bistro on June 10th - THANKS!!!!
It was a wonderful afternoon and all the musicians did a terrific job of dazzling and inspiring everyone. Unfortunately, we didn't make our goal this spring of raising $6000, but our three fundraisers got within striking distance and maybe next year we'll make it.
I have this dream that one day Jazz Bridge will make the Philadelphia Inquirer's high society pages with one of those huge fundraisers that raise a couple hundred thousand (sigh).
Anyway, don't think just because it's the summer, everyone at Jazz Bridge is sitting back, eating Cheetos and watching Phillies games. No! We're still working hard for the jazz community.

Jazz Bridge is partnering with All About Jazz for a FREE musicians' workshop this Thursday at the Philadelphia Clef Club at 1 pm.
Musicians will learn how to use the Internet's most important jazz resource to reach nearly 3,000 Philly jazz fans with their upcoming concerts, events, news, latest photos, videos and bios. CEO and founder Michael Ricci will provide a simple guide to the various professional tools freely available to musicians and presenters. Refreshments will be provided by Jazz Bridge.

Calling for nominations for our 3rd Annual
Making A Difference Award!
Last year, Jazz Bridge honored jazz advocate Thelma Anderson for her wonderful work with the jazz community for many decades and the year before that we honored the late Trudy Pitts, one of our most treasured jazz musicians.
Now it's time to nominate the person YOU think should get the award this year at our December benefit. The nominee does not have to be a musician, but he or she MUST have a strong record of service to the jazz community. This honor also carries a cash award of $250.
Please send a nominating paragraph of a least 150 words to Wendy at wendysimonsinkler@jazzbridge.org
Yes, you can nominate yourself! |
Ah, time to reminisce about last season's great neighborhood concerts and what better way than to revisit the incredible gig in Media by vocalist Karen Rodriguez, pianist Suzzette Ortiz, bassist Tony Cimorosi and drummer David Silliman...wow!

Hey, 2013 calendar time is fast approaching and if your name and birthday are not on the calendar, please contact me at cloud@jazzbridge.org. Remember, you must be a jazz or blues musician with at least 5 years professional playing in jazz or blues in the Greater Philadelphia Metro area. If you know of someone who should be included and is not, let me know too.
This year, the calendar will be designed by Kathy Ridl, a wonderful graphic artist (who is on our advisory board) well-known to the jazz community. |
