DeCarlo Studios Redesigns Web Site for Simply Desserts Simply Desserts Web Site

DeCarlo Studios recently launched
a newly redesigned web site for Kimberly McDonald of Simply Desserts. This web site shows off all of her delicious and eye catching cakes, cheesecakes and treats. It was a fun design project all around. We have sampled many of Kimberly's delicious cakes and treats (for inspiration of course) and highly recommend everything!

Recipe for a Great Call to Action Button

As Thanksgiving approaches, we would like to share just one recipe with you: a recipe for a great Call to Action button. There are many ingredients to consider, and this simple recipe will bring great results!

What is a Call to Action Button?

A Call to Action button plays a major role in the success of your web site. It is the button on a web site that allows the user to perform an action such as buying something, signing up for a newsletter, downloading information and trying out your product or service.

Ingredients for Success  Call to Action Buttons

  *  Placement
  *  Size
  *  Color
  *  Language
  *  Imagery

Placement

An effective Call to Action button should be clearly visible on your web page. Offset it from other graphic elements. Repeat this position on multiple pages for consistency, so the visitors know where to expect it if they want to perform a task.

Size
It should not be hard to find your Call to Action button. You do not want it to be subtle and it should stand out. A large button will accomplish this but also never underestimate the power of white space. Effective placement of a well designed button will stand out if it is not lost in an abundance of surrounding text and imagery.

Color
If you want your button to get noticed, color is an important factor. Choosing a contrasting or complementary color will definitely make it stand out.

Language
Keep your message short and to the point. Use clear and descriptive words to get your message across.

Imagery
Use icons and art to dress up your button and add interest. Some buttons have attractive art and designs to capture the interest of the visitor.
