2 Point Inspection

ANNOUNCING

A NEW  PROGRAM FOR BBBC

The 2-Point Inspection is a program of Bikers Battling Breast Cancer, Inc., designed to promote early detection and breast health by sending you a monthly reminder on the 7th day of each month to perform your breast self-exam.  Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women today.  For women of all ages, the breast self-exam is a useful tool that is easy to do.  It is used to look for unusual lumps, skin changes, or discharge.  For most women, once-a-month exams seem easy to forget.  So sign up TODAY for a monthly email reminder.  An Early Detection Plan enables you to be proactive about your health by reminding you to perform routine breast self-exams and to schedule clinical breast exams and mammograms, depending on your age and health history.  Through the 2-Point Inspection program, you can receive an email reminder each month to perform your monthly breast self-exam.  By creating and following an Early Detection Plan, you will increase your chances of detecting breast cancer in its early stages.  According to the National Cancer Institute:

  • One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
  •  Over 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
  •  When breast cancer is detected early (localized stage), the 5-year survival rate is 98%.
  •  Over 30% of women are diagnosed after breast cancer has spread beyond the localized stage.

UPDATE ON FUNDS RAISED AT
CURVES & CHROME 2012

We are honored to report to you on some of our donations from our very successful Curves & Chrome Weekend.  On September 20 we added to the Bikers Battling Breast Cancer Diagnostic Testing Financial Assistance Fund by donating $30,000 to Tanner Medical Foundation.  Because of this Fund, Tanner Medical Foundation is able to offer assistance to you and other Tanner breast cancer patients with the cost of critical testing, such as stereotactic breast biopsies, breast ultrasounds, computer tomography (CT) scans, positron emission tomography (PET) scans, magnetic resonance imagining (MRI) scans and BRCA genetic testing.  Dr. Z, breast surgeon from Tanner Health Systems, and Kathy Mathis from the Foundation, were on hand to accept the check, as well as Venita Steed, Director of Tanner Breast Health, and several of the ladies from Tanner Breast Health.  Attached is an acknowledgement letter we received from Tanner expressing their appreciation.

We are very excited to report that in addition to the numerous Pink Kick-Starter Kits which have been distributed both individually and through Piedmont Fayette, we are now in partnership with The Cancer Navigators in Rome and are providing Pink Kick-Starters to their newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.  Read more about their program by clicking on the logo below.

$15,000 has been set aside from your donations at our Curves & Chrome Weekend to continue to provide these organizer kits through several different breast health programs and through individual requests.

Also, to fulfill our commitment to keep our support in the local community, in the next few weeks we will be making $5,000 donations to each of the following programs:

We hope to continue these and many more relationships in the years to come because of your generosity and support of Bikers Battling Breast Cancer, Inc.

Please make your plans to join us at the Fight Bold ride on October 6 and at Worship In Pink at East-West Church on October 21.  Information can be found below.

During this special month when everything is pink, please remember that there are many out there suffering from breast cancer.  With your help, we at BBBC are doing our part to Love You Through It.   Also, remember that God is in control...ALL the time!

  Rock the Pink,
Lisa
