Minnesota Teacher Licensure Examinations

Beginning September 2010, all candidates for an initial license will be required to pass the MTLE basic skills tests as well as pedagogy and content area tests. To learn more about these new requirements, download the FAQ document @ mtle.nesinc.com.

The School of Education is proud to present The Sister Clare Marie Trettel Distinguished Scholar Award to Anna Johnson. This award recognizes students with outstanding commitment to professional growth, service, and leadership in education that surpasses the required curriculum.

The School of Education is proud to present The Leadership in Student Teaching Award to Logan Schultz. This award recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding leadership in student teaching
through living the College's mission and values, while exceeding expectations.

The School of Education is proud to present The College of St Scholastica Academic Excellence Award  to Martine Reinhardt.
This award honors seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence and contributed in their area of study. Students will be officially recognized at a college-wide convocation in the spring. 
Scholarship Opportunities
 
Scholarship America, an administrator of private scholarships, has launched a new teacher education scholarship program.


It is called the 2011 "Back to School" Teaching Scholarship Program, and is offering two scholarships of $2,500 each. One will go to a teacher with provisional/initial certification who's going back to school for a Masters in Education or Post-Baccalaureate Teaching Certificate program. The other will go to a non-teacher who's going back to school to become a teacher in an Alternative Teacher Certification program.

Stafford Loan Forgiveness 
Program for Teachers

The Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program is intended to encourage individuals to enter and continue in the teaching profession. Under this program, individuals who teach full time for five consecutive, complete academic years in certain elementary and secondary schools that serve low-income families and meet other qualifications may be eligible for forgiveness of up to a combined total of $17,500 in principal and interest on their FFEL and/or Direct Loan program loans.
