Blackboard 9.1 is Coming Soon! |
Blackboard is getting a makeover
Throughout the summer and fall, our online course environment has been transitioning courses from WebCT to the new Blackboard site. The migration is expected to be complete in January of 2011.
We are excited about the new features available which will benefit both students and instructors. You can get an early look at the new set up by logging in through the Blackboard Early Adopters link under "Logins" on the CSS home page. There, you'll find tutorials for navigating the new online classrooms, from taking tests to posting in the new discussion boards.
These tutorials can also be found on Blackboard's website help center.

Important Note: WebCT portfolios
Many of you have started your teaching portfolios in WebCT. Please note that as of January 1, those portfolios will no longer be available in the new Blackboard system. All students who have portfolios in WebCT should download the contents before the end of the Fall II term.
Instructions for downloading your portfolio can be found in the GTL Program course in the current version of Blackboard.

Introducing Amy Bergstrom and our online M.Ed.
|
Great things are happening here at St. Scholastica!
Greetings! My name is Amy Bergstrom and I am the newly hired M.Ed. Program Director. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and our newly designed M.Ed. Program. Prior to entering higher education, I was an English Language Arts teacher, having taught grades 6-12. I was in the classroom for five and half years before continuing my graduate education, earning my Masters Degree in 1998 and my Doctorate in 2009. I am thrilled to be a part of the St. Scholastica community and love working in the School of Education. There are great things happening here at The College of St. Scholastica and online learning is one of them. I am proud to announce the newly designed 100% online M.Ed. Program. The M.Ed. program begins in January 2011. A newly designed curriculum, use of the cohort model, and an online advisor are some of the unique features of this program. The curriculum will focus on 21st Century teaching and learning and program participants can focus their elective credits to simultaneously earn either the Certificate in Educational Technology, the Online Instruction Certificate, or focus their electives in Professional Studies. Remember too, that CSS SOE alumni are eligible for a 10% tuition discount for this program. For more information please contact our graduate recruiter Chad Oppelt at [email protected] |
Urban Immersion Opportunity |
Brooklyn Center Immersion Experience in January 2011 The School of Education students have the opportunity to participate in an optional field experience in the Brooklyn Center Schools over the college semester break January 3-7, 2011). Education students will be placed in either a high school or elementary classroom for a full week! Placements will be aligned with your licensure field.
This field experience allows undergraduate and graduate education students the opportunity to integrate their academic coursework in an urban school. Students who attended last year found this experience to be invaluable.
Find out more here.
Information sessions on the Urban Immersion Experience will be provided for interested students this fall and students can contact program coordinator Kevin Mackin ([email protected] ) or SOE Admin Assist Cindy Mattson ([email protected]) with questions.
